Default Getting new tires...which should I choose.

2007 Murano SL.

Still have three originals on there but they need to be replaced since they are worn. One original got a flat last year so I had to replace it with a new tire (same brand as the originals...Goodyear LS). Should a person mix tire brands? I would like to just get four new tires and use the good one as a backup. Does discount tire buy used tires? I could just sell it to them. I just like everything to be uniform. Plus i'm tired of Goodyear anyway.

I'm looking at discount tire. I saw a thread in here about the BF Goodrich Long Trails and people have recommended them. Discount Tire has them listed for $171 each. The total out the door price is $797.

I also saw Pirelli Scorpion Verde for $143 each with total price of $678. Do anyone have experience with either of these tires?

Any help is appreciated.

Hi I went with cooper CS4 and I did like them. The price I paid on sale was 140 per tire all in. Also look at consumers reports last month. they had an article on SUV- Crossovers tires Good article.

Read on..there are a lot of discussion on tires. But I would just change all 4 tires and keep the 1 that is fairly new for emergency--ie. if you get a sidewall puncture. I got the long trails from sams club and was cheaper than what you were quoted. I waited for the BF Goodrich sale also--$60 off. So far so good with the long trails. I live in Vegas so no snow to deal with.

What i'm looking for? I guess just an all around all year tire. My current tires have worn out too quickly.

Couldn't find the Coopers on Discount tire. Where did you purchase yours? How much was the total price? Where exactly is that article...I could not locate it.

The Sams clubs here in Indy have them listed for $178...with no sale. Yeah, I figured I'm going to change all 4 and just keep the one good one just in case. I've read some of the threads already but some of them are dated...

Thank you for the additional information Skooby.

If you want an all-season tire that offers longevity, the Long Trail T/A Tour is an excellent option to consider. This model is rated and backed up with a 60K mile tread life warranty and does well in all conditions including light snow. What I like best about the Long Trail T/A Tour is the handling. This model offers crsip handling and steering response which suites the Murano perfectly

BTW: Your local store may be able to issue you a credit on your current tires. You'll need to speak with a sales agents at the store about this.

About 18 to 24 months ago I purchased Yokohamas for my 2004 Murano from Discount Tire. They were not the Geolanders but something like the model 420. I believe they were a special tire made only for Discount Tire and they were @ $950 out the door with the road hazard and TPMS rebuild. I later had them siped. If I recall at the time they only had the two tires (Goodyear & Yokohama) in the stock size.
I have been satisfied with these tires and felt they were an improvement over the Goodyears and even more so after they were siped.

The coopers are hard to find, but I'm planning those for my next set. After my stock tires I went with Yoko YK520s and they were great at the beginning but quickly got "average" and didn't last that long. I'm now running Yoko Parada Spec X, and I like them a lot better than the YK520 but I only have 10k miles on them right now. One downside that has bugged me a few times, the tread has grooves that are just the right size to collect rocks, and they're hard to get out. Occasionally I get a rhythmic drumming noise, and it goes away after I chip out a few rocks. I've never had that happen with any other tire or car before, so that's weird. So far, after 10k miles, I've noticed that asphalt is much quieter than average, but concrete is a little louder. I have no idea why that would be, but that's my feeling (someone else on this forum also mentioned this same behavior).

I've been a fan of Discount Tire for quite some time, but I wouldn't use them for reviews. Check out TireRack, and make sure you're reading reviews for COMPARABLE cars when evaluating. Tires that are excellent on a ferrari might not perform the same on a Murano...

I called the local store and they don't issue a credit...they do have a disposal fee ($2.50 per tire).

Disposal Fee's are mandated through each State but rest assured we guarantee the lowest out the door price on all the products we carry

I also have the Cooper CS4's and they seem to be a good tire. 80K mileage rating pretty much beats anything out there. I picked mine up at PepBoys here in Albuquerque. They were having a buy 3 get the 4th free deal.

Well I'm down to BF Goodrich Long Trails ($172 per) from Discount Tire for $973 (including road hazard & TMPS) or Cooper CS4 ($162 per) from Pep Boys for $927 (including the 'computer wheel alignment, Hazard, and the 'install package).

Discount has a promotional for the Long Trials...a $50 visa card...but it expires on the saturday the 17th. But the CS4 $927 price doesn't include Pep Boys buy three get one free sale. So i'll be getting back $162. Leaving a differnce of $158 in favor of the CS4.

So my question is...which would be the better tire for the Murano...BF Long Trails or the CS4? I've seen good reviews on here about both. But is there a clear winner?

Keep in mind that when you are charged for Pep Boy's road hazard warranties they are charging you for a pro-rated road hazard warranty. Our stores offer this same warranty for FREE just for purchasing your tires from us.

Our certificates for FREE replacement would cover your tire for a 100% FREE replacement if you happen to get a road hazard and still have at least 3/32nds of tread left.

Personally, I'd go with the BFG tires. I've run a number of sets of various BFG models, and had excellent service and good tire mileage out of every set.

Didn't know that. Good info!

Makes me want to run over a few boxes of nails when they need swapping out.
