Default Tires for 2005 Murano

So obviously by my username, I'm asking about tires for my wifes Murano. It's a 2005 fwd. I've been going nuts looking up tires and ratings for it. There are several tire stores around me, Costco, Firestone, Discount Tire, Sears, etc etc. I've read a ton of reviews on here but don't see any from anyone who bought tires at Costco or Firestone... Should I stay away from there? Ordering tires online is pretty much out of the question because she doesn't want to do that. We aren't looking for huge performance or a bigger size. Pretty much just something that will handle the Chicago weather and be a replacement for the original size.

Can someone suggest something that's just a replacement for stock and handles well in all sorts of weather? I seem to be overloaded with info that I read about going a size bigger or wider. But I would just like some flat out answers on a direct replacement.

I really appreciate any help I can get because she's been on my case about getting new tires all week, but I'm the type that researches something to death before buying! Thanks!

Welcome to the forum!

After reading you post (and reading between the lines) I have one question to ask - Is your wife happy with the OEM Goodyears? If they got her around the Chicago winters without any issues then go with what you know will keep her happy. Stick with the stock size and be done with it.

On the other hand, the OEM tires are biased toward a quiet, smooth ride but they are not the best in snow and ice. If you wife needs to regularly drive on snow/ice and was stranded a few times then you may want to go with something different.

How well did the OEM Goodyears take care of her?

She has only had it a couple years and the tires were half way gone when we bought it. But they seemed OK. She has never been stuck anywhere, but it does seem to like to spin them at the slightest hint of snow. i guess it has got her around fine, and like I said, I'm not looking for a super performance tire. Most of her driving is highway, so not a ton of snow, but of course with Chicago winters, it can be 50 degrees one day, then you go to bed and wake up and theres a foot of snow on the ground. lol.
