Hi Guys,
Need some help. This week I sold my 1997 Honda Civic and purchased a 2012 Murano LE Platinum, love the vehicle!! Looking at purchasing winter tires, here is my dilemma.. Stock is 235/55/20's I have an AWESOME deal ONLY on 225/65/17 with wheels ofcourse I am looking for feedback regarding the size, is the diameter difference too large? I understand it will make a difference on the speedo, what I am looking to understand is in regards to safety, structural changes (if any) or anything else Also not familiar with the TPMS, but I am reading that when changing tires this needs to be replaced?? Will that be the fact if I purchase tires? Your feedback is greatly appreciated! Thank You |

Tire size calculator
Radius 15.1 stock vs 14.3 for the ones you're looking at concerns me. That's giving up almost an inch of ground clearance. You really don't want to lower your car for winter. Plus, no idea if 17's will even clear your brakes and suspension hardware. Nissan doesn't offer a 17" package on that generation so the engineers didn't have to worry about making everything fit inside a wheel that small. And that's assuming you've got the right bolt pattern and offset. Generally you only want to go down in size as much as the "base" factory rim/tire size was. A little bit either way is ok, but you're looking at a whole lot of change from factory spec. |

i have a 2011 mo and my winter tires and rim combo is 235/65/18. that keeps the overall tire diameter just like your 20 inch rims. this way no ill effects on speedo calibration. oh and as for tpms. no need for it. after a few days the light will come on , but i have found a piece of blk electrical tape does the trick. tpms is a complete waste anyway.
