Got the Michelin tires installed on my 2009 SL AWD yesterday. What a change from the OEM tires. Much smother ride, good cornering, very quite.
My OEM tires lasted 40K before a nail got through the rear one. Had to change all the four as it was time. |

Tirerack would be a good place to start. I got mine done for $930 at Discount tires with certificates. There are lots of choices like the Michelin Crosterain, Yokohama Parada Spex -X, Bridgestone Alenza, Goodyear Triple, Copper CS4, Kumhos. Check the ratings at tire rack and make a decision based on priorities like Road Noise, Handling, Thread wear |

Excellent advice - I'd also recommend paying closer attention to reviews by drivers of vehicles that are similar to the Murano. A review for a Toyota Land Cruiser or NIssna Armada might not be applicable to the Murano, while one for the Acura MDX or Toyota Highlander might be better. Of course if you find reviews from Murano owners that is perfect. You can also check reviews on Discount Tire Direct. |

I'm going to have the cross terrains installed this week on my 07 Murano and have a few questions.
1) I was wondering if they are OK to use on the MO since they come with a T rated tire and these are S? 2) What is the main difference between these and the Michelin latitudes? I also considered the Toyo versado but really could not find much info on them. 3) I asked the guy at the store if these were back walls or the white lettered. He said they only come one way but are reversible. That seems to be wrong as there are two models. Can the white lettered ones be installed with the white letters facing in? |

1) Yes. The only differences are speed rating and sidewall stiffness.
2) No idea. Best to read reviews at Tire Rack online. 3) Yes, of course.

Don't wanna discourage you but, According to my experience, Michelins Crossterrains were so-so.
I just got Yokohama 235/65/18 Parada Spec-x. Much better ride. check them out. There is a thread on it here too. Quote:

I checked with a tire place I know is reputable, but too far for me to go. I asked their opinion on the Cross Terrains versus the Latitude Touring HP versus the Toyos.
They recommended the Cross Terrains. They were not big fans of the Toyos, unless they were less money. The Latitude Touring HP seems like a nice riding tire, but not as good for bad weather. Since I was able to order the Cross Terrains at a local shop for less than Tire Racks price, I think I did well. This place offers a 30 day trial for tires. So if I don't like them, I can swap them. I also asked about the S versus T rating. They said it would make no difference. Seems some people love the cross terrains, others not so much....but that is pretty much the case with all tires. Just wondering, but there is alot of mention in this thread about the discontinuation of the Cross Terrains...and that was from a few years back. Michelin still has them on their site....so what's the deal with that? |

I have 78,000 on my Cooper CS4's. I am going to replace them very soon. $182 each including mounting and balancing (and free rotations). Cooper has a $50 rebate running until November.
These tires have been great. Getting a little loud now but no complaints. I have 160,500 on my 2003 Mo and get 21.5 mph on a 94 mile round trip averaging 70+ on the highway and doing small trips back and forth to the baseball/football fields with my boys. |

I was set to purchase the Cross Terrains on the recommendation of my dealer.
Being the detail person I am ... I decided to do my own research on the CT and here is what I discovered. The CT has great reviews ... but if you look at the Murano specifically with the CT the reviews are all the same! Good for the first 10- 20,000 miles then incredible noisy and wearing down quickly. Highlanders, Pilots, Explorers, 4 Runners owners rave about the tire. But the suspension and design of the MO does not do well with this tire. Also I only consider reviews that have significant mileage as any new tire will 'feel', 'perform' much better than a worn out tread it just replaced. my 2 cents.

I would caution against Cross Terrains. From the experience I had with them on a 2006 Ford Explorer they are pretty dreadful, especially in winter weather. Wear was not good either. not a tire i would want on my MO.

Was that for me?
It would depend on several factors ... what is your number one quality you are looking for in the tire? Quiet, Handling, Tread Life? Also you geographic area, and are you looking for a srtictly summer tire or can you use an all season? After much research ... I went with the Cooper CS4 ... an excellent all round tire for the Murano. I will save my comments until I have had considerable time and mileage with the Coopers ... Cheers.

At this point, I haven't a clue. I have never gotten more than about 30,000 miles on any tires I have owned. Not near what the manufacturers claim. I've tried a lot of different brands, Goodyear, Goodrich, Firestone, Michelin, Cooper, and nothing did a very good job. On my Explorer I run Hercules Terra Tracs, but they are an aggressive tire that is not made in the MO size. I only get 20,000 - 25,000 on those, but I do a lot of off road driving and that's to be expected. I wish I could find a really good tire that would last 50,000 and give great traction in all road conditions. I don't think one is made. Goodyear Eagle LS tires came on my 2012 MO, and I'm figuring if they are like the Goodyear Eagles I had on my 99 Interpid, I may get 18,000 to 20,000, and by next winter I won't be able to get up my hill in AWD. I actually asked the dealer if he could get me some other tire, and he absolutely would not do it. So, I'm here to find out what kind of tire folks are running that are giving the 50,000+ miles and good traction in the winter. Anyone have an answer? |
