All MO owners may want to review this. Nissan has posted that there was a casting problem on the transfer case where they may crack and start leaking. I have a 2003 MO and the service department seen this and replaced it where some small cracks were forming. You may want to take a look or have it checked prior to leaking.

Does your service invoice show some sort of recall or service campaign?

Last Friday when I went to pick up the MO the service manager advised that he just received the info concerning the transfer case and they inspected mine during re-assembly. They notice the small crack and went ahead and replaced it while it was there.

From http://www.nissan-techinfo.com :
NTB04129 IF YOU CONFIRM: The AWD Transfer Case needs to be replaced because: The case is cracked, and/or Internal gears are damaged. NOTE: Damage, if it occurs, may have been caused by operating the AWD system in the LOCK mode on dry pavement. ACTIONS: 1. Replace the following: Transfer Case. AWD Lock Switch with the new one listed in the Parts Information. AWD Control Unit with the new one Listed in the Parts Information. NOTE: Refer to the ESM for component replacement information. 2. IMPORTANT: Attach pages 3 and 4 of this bulletin to the customer's copy of the repair order and make sure the customer is handed these pages. Pages 3 and 4 of this bulletin contain revised Owner Information for "USING ALL WHEEL DRIVE (AWD)". 3. Inform the customer that the installation of these new parts upgrades the operation of the AWD Lock Switch. The AWD Lock switch will now operate like a 2005 Murano. See this bulletin for further detail. |
