Default Removing Auto Shift Knob

Can someone tell me how to remove the shift knob on my 07 SL. I am guessing that you have to remove the thin stainless strip down the middle. And, there is a fastener under there. Thanks

At the bottom of the shifter knob there is a metallic cover. Grab it and pull it straight down. Then look under it and you will see a spring clip that holds the knob to the shaft. You need to pull that out. The knob will slide right out.

Sorry but you are not informed.
I went to talk to my dealer and you have to lower the chrome piece under the knob and than remove the circlip so you can than pull it straight up.
Thank you for your help.
