Ordering a new car with your options should be a fun, exciting but relax exercise. Why are you rushing it if you are ordering it? When I ordered my MO I gave them all the time in the world. Got it in < 6 months.
It was the fact that the car was sitting in a parking lot from May 23 till June 30 with no info from Ford as to why it wasn't being shipped. They gave an original ETA of June 2. I still have the print out from the dealer tracing the building of the vehicle.

If Nissan told you that your car is built and will be delivered on a certain date and then they leave it in a lot for over a month and it doesn't get delivered for another month with no explanation, would you be a happy customer?

Probably not. But I would still wait for it "if" it was really what I wanted. The fact that you replaced it with a Challenger tells me you didn't.

The beauty of it is, in my opinion, you ended up with a better car! My choice after the MO will be a Camaro, Challenger, or a Mustang, in that order...

Of course not. But, getting the car for 800 < dealers invoice, time spent researching what I like, and since I have been waiting already--whats another month. The only way I will turn away will be if it arrived early and the dealer sold it to a walk in buyer.

I have wanted a Mustang since I was about 11, I'm 44 now, but I just reached a point where Ford's lack of communication turned me off. If this is how they treat their customer base when giving them thousands of dollars, how are they going to be when the car needs service?
As they say "You get one chance at a first impression" and Ford screwed the pooch as far as I'm concerned.
