Unhappy 2006 CVT question

Hey guys,

I was searching for answers and found this great forums.
Hope it helps me go through with this...

My transmission failed
My car goes like 5mph on full throttle... anyway, I found one CVT transmission for the right price... but its a 2005 model, is there a way it will fit my 2006 Murano ?

Any reply will be very much appreciated !
Thanks

Check for a LOT of other things before you replace the transmission. Any codes? SES light on? Might pay to get a professional opinion.
Aside: transmissions should be the same...

Sic-

Welcome to the forum.

Before you do anything.... How many miles are on your MO? If it is less than 120,000 miles then you should be covered the CVT's extended warranty.

It sounds like you're in "limp mode" which is where the vehicle recognizes that it has a particular problem and significantly limits the throttle.

This can be caused by many different things, not necessarily just the CVT having a problem. Before buying a new CVT for any price, go see if you can read any codes from the diagnostic computer. Most auto parts stores will read your code for free, then you can post that code up here and some of the really smart people on here can tell you what really might be the problem.

Thanks guys,

I already have two independent opinions... one from the dealership and one from another shop... both agree on the transmission fault, sth about secondary oil pressure ?

The next thing is, I am over in Europe... so no warranty by Nissan
I am flying back home for a while and I found a trans for sale on craigs and its from a 05 model, so thats why I am asking you guys.

Thanks a lot.

WHAT?!?!? No warranty on the CVT in Europe?

Are you 100% sure?

This sounds odd guys. If the Murano's were made by a company in Japan, and they offer a warranty for the USA, then why would they exclude Europe?

Warhammer-

This is my take on it...

Nissan, the manufacturer, does not offer the extended warranty on the CVT. It is Nissan North America (NNA) that came up with it.

Warhammer,

actually this is not that unusual. Companies offer different warranties and pricing for the same product in different countries. And yes, we are lucky here as we get best prices and best warranties.

05 and 06 CVT's should be the same. However, I would doublecheck if the one on craiglist is actually in working order.
