Default Murano early tire wear question.

Hello. My 2007 SE AWD has 43000K (approx 27000 miles). I have Goodyear Eagle LS tires on it. Dealer indicates 11/32 is new measurement, mine are at 5/32. This seems to be too rapid wear to me but I'm open for any comments on it. Thanks.

Tire wear depends on the tires, the aorads you drive, your driving style, and how much air you keep in them. You're still 3/32 above the tread bars, so you have should be able to get more mileage....

I'm not a fan of Goodyear Eagles at ALL. I've driven a couple of sets and they were too slippery and wore out early.

My advice: research tire reviews here and at Tirerrack.com, and choose your next set carefully. Michelin LTX got me almost 60K on a 1999 Blazer - more than twice the highest mileage I had ever seen from tires before.

Also - run your tires with more pressure. I run 40 PSI all around on Firestone Destination LE tires.

Went through 2 sets of Eagle LS tires, replaced them after 48,000km (2 years) both times.

Got Yokohama Parada Spec-X last week. I don't know how long they will last yet, but they made me realize how crappy the Eagle LS tires are.

I got 4 1/2 years and 61K out of the GY's on my 04 SE. They worked great on snowy/icy roads, rode well, wore evenly, and still had some tread left (ie 6-12 months more) when I replaced them. But I rotated them regularly (twice a year) and watched pressures closely. So not everyone has had poor experiences with the GY LS2's.

Thanks for the comments all. I would say my driving habits are good--driving the speed limit or a tad above, no racing, no quick starts, no rapid braking (boring huh??), so no reason they should wear extra fast. 27000 miles just doesnt seem like a lot to have 1/2 the tire worn out. I watch the air in the tires religiously and rotate them on time.

Pilgrim I agree with your comments on the Goodyear and will keep on eye out as you indicate-thanks.
Nafddur thanks for your input also--wish I could say the same about mine but I really think they appear to be wearing a bit early. They do give me a quiet and comfortable ride so that is a plus.
Again thanks for the comments-appreciate your input and time. Cheers/Bill

But if this means you can go another 27K on these tires before they need replacing, you'll be getting 54K out of them. While that's a little less than some of us got on our LS2's, it's not outrageously bad for almost any tires.

Any time I can get 50K from tires, I'll let them kiss me on both cheeks!

I haven't gotten less than 50K on any tires in decades, Pilgrim. But I just traded my 95 Maxima in on a 335xi BMW, so I might be in for a rude awakening. And those run flats are around $300 a pop (I've heard).

I figure tires are expendable. I love cornering and I drive accordingly. I figure that if I get 10 or 15K less miles out of my tires, it's worth the price of admission.

My wife has a 1994 BMW 325i and if you have any poetry in your soul, you will certainly enjoy corners in that 335xi.

One of the few exceptions to my dislike of Goodyears I mentioned earlier is that my wife's 325i has Goodyear Assurance Triple Treds on it; they have been great tires all year around, and have given her good mileage. Not cheap at all, but good tires for that car. We have about 50K miles on them.
