Question Should i buy 2004 Murano with 60000 miles on it ?

Hello .. My name is Dan and this is my first thread-post...
I am from Serbia and i am a lawyer...
.. I love muranos since 2003 and i wanted to buy one ever since..
And few days ago i had a pretty good offer..
2004 Murano with 60k on it...Carfax report was clean..Car was shipped from USA when it had 40000 miles on it...1 owner, never was in accident or things like that... What should i look out for ? This forum freaked me out because of the cvt transimission, we dont have a waranty on cvt like u have...
What should i look for , what kind of problems... What is the weakest link of Murano 2004 ? Car really looks great and if u want , u can look at it on this link : NISSAN MURANO 3.5 V6 SL 4AWD 2004 GOD KAO NOV - PIK.ba ... Use google translate !
I hope that i will get any answer to this .. And yeah,it costs about 9-10.000$

If you do not have the CVT warranty like we have in North America, its even more reason why you should NOT buy this Murano.

That's not to say that this Murano would have this issue later. It might be a good one but you would never know till you buy it. That's one thing I regret now all because of Nissan's support inadequacies.

Thus since there are a lot of "IF"'s with this vehicle and being one Murano owner since 2003, I will advise you to look for another vehicle.

I agree with nipsirc, i would not buy it, i have a 2006 with 75K miles owned it for 9 months now, the warranty has dished out close to 6K in repairs.

I have 126k miles on my 2004 Murano and do not have any CVT problems.

Most CVT issues arise due to undetected oil eaks which end up damaging the transfer case or CVT. Take it to the dealer or a good mechanic and have them look for any sign of leaks around CVT and Transfer case. If everything is dry then go for it...

Why wouldn't Nissan provide the same warranty over there? I would have guessed, and maybe be wrong, that they would cover you even if you bought it from a private party.

I would at least ask a Nissan Dealership or directly with Nissan to find it out before dismissing the car.

MOs are expensive over there so you might get a great car, especially if it came from California or another warm place where rust isn't an issue.

I don't remember if you mentioned if it's a FWD or AWD

Price of that Murano here is about 25.000 $ ... So yeah, they are expensive here... This one came from Florida! It is AWD , 2004 , 61000 miles on it .. I will ask them to give me extended waranty but i really doubt it , because murano is not from europe ( bulls*it)
I posted link to the pictures so u can take a look .. I am trying to be rational and i am trying not to involve my emotions for this car But thats hard because i just love it..
Guys , what should i do ???
ZEBELKHAN! Thank you , i will do that , i will take it to nissan dealership so they can take a look at the transmission .. Is there anything else that i should be aware of ?
PRIDBOR... I really hope that i will get a great car ... I dont like wasting my money,well...Who does ..

Nissan Motor Company, the Japan-based company that builds the MO, does not offer the extended CVT warranty that we, here in the states, enjoy. The extended warranty is offered and managed by Nissan North America (NNA).

I believe NNA realized they had to do something to pacify potential MO owners who were fearful of buying a car with an unconventional transmission that could not be repaired by the dealer network.

Also let them know you are a lawyer and you will sue their pants off if something goes wrong...

I will take it to Nissan Dealership and i will tell them to look for anything suspicious .. People from usa could make a fortune by sending cars to europe... This Murano is really rare and lot of people love it .. And i hate cvt allready :S

Even if you bring it to the Nissan Stealership and asked them to look for faults in this MO, maybe they would find nothing wrong with it for now.

The thing is that you should asked them to give you a warranty for it for a few years. This would guarantee you at least some peace of mind if anything goes wrong in the next few years. If you are one of the lucky ones like Zeb, then that is great !

I bought a 2004 SL and now its 2011 and I have this CVT leaking issue. Good thing we have CVT warranty here and it would be taken cared of. Back then there was not a single fault with my Murano you can find. Even then I have no worries as we have back-to-back warranty on it.

You are a lawyer and you know that without any warranty contract to back up, any claims you make would be futile. So be wary !

The huge $6000++ dollars CVT and TC repair bill and who knows what else worries and sleepless nights is not worth the looks from other people that the Murano would grant you IMHO.

Or you can buy my Murano after I have its CVT replaced. Its exactly like a clone with what you are buying ..... lol just kidding...
