I was having oil leaking from (I thought) the transfer case where the passenger front driveshaft comes out. Turns out, the drain plug was loose. I had never touched it and I have not had it to the dealership since I bought it over a year ago.
Anyway, while under there, they said that the Oil Cooler O-Ring was starting to leak and wanted $165 to change it out. They indicated it was right behind the oil filter. Any info? They also said the Power Steering Fluid looked dirty and needed to be flushed...for $99. Really? The brake fluid looked dirty also...and they wanted $119 to flush that out. Will be checking this one myself... The front brakes were at about 10% life and the rear were at about 20% life and they wanted $243 for that. I knew the brakes were coming up on replacement...looks like I have a timeframe now. The one that gets me though is that they said the CVT fluid was dirty...and wanted $200 to change it. Now, I thought this fluid was good for more than 50k at a time...no? They only tightened the loose plug on the differential...for no cost. I will work on the other things as I get around to it.

Good for you. Make sure you top off your engine oil.
The oil cooler is know to leak due to the gasket there. Mine did and the entire thing was replaced by the dealer under warranty. But easy fix--diy is posted somewhere here. PS fluid doesnt really need to be flushed but you can do it via turkey baster little by little till you feel happy its cleaner/clearer again. The brake fluid does need to be flushed once in a while. I did mine at 60k when I replaced my rear brakes--try getting the motive product fluid extractor. They will minimize air introduction in you brake lines if you wanna do this by yourself. Or do it the old fashion style if youre comfy with it. The CVT fluid NS2 is expensive on its on. Cheapest I got on ebay was 68 shipped for 6 quarts and you need 12/1 case to flush it out properly. This is a preventive maintenance and members are divided if its a necessary procedure or not. I however plan to keep my MO till the CVT or TC fails and I have to cough up big bucks so I am for flushing it. Got the fluid already just waiting for a nice round number on the odo. Diy also posted. |

the dealer did my oil cooler for 50. you may want to look else where, the cvt fluid, i would have it drained and replaced, with proper type , expensive but it is a clogged valve inside that causes the problem.

Hi Joe,
Just wondering since I also have a '07. How many miles do you have on your MO now. I see 25K at the bottom but was wondering if thats up to date. I'm at 56K miles and recently replaced the gasket (no charge) on the oil drain plug because it was leaking. That must be different than the o-ring you're referring to. The dealer noticed a small seal leak on the CVT or differential but said it was it covered under warranty. I'm going to get to get it fixed on the next visit. Also, when the brake pads need to be changed (soon I'm guessing) I'm going to upgrade the system with performance rotors, pads and brake lines. I'll also change the brake fluid then.

The oil leak is behind the oil filter...where the oil cooler pick-up is located. I have the new gasket ($4.33 from my dealer) and just waiting for the weekend to install. I picked up my new pads today...Wagner Thermoquiet. I have heard good about them on this forum so I am going to give them a try. They are not cheap...about $115 total for front and back but I got a deal and got them for $99 at my local parts store...plus I found a rebate form where I am going to get an additional $30 off if I submit before Sept 30th. (Wagner TQ Fall Blitz Rebate) Going to change out the brake juice when I do the brakes this weekend. The other problems will have to wait a little longer. Joe
