Default If its not one thing, its another.

I just need to vent a little. I have the 03 MO and well, lets just say im not happy with it. Mostly the reliability of it and the cost to work on it. I bought this thing in 08 with 30xxx something miles on it. It has been one head ache after another. I took really good care of this car and it was not neglected at all. It has probably had about $15,000 dollars in repairs(and this is not a lie) and maintinence. It has just over 100,xxx miles on it now and i took it to the dealer yesterday for a new battery since my nissan one died.....suprise suprise. I guess they check your car no matter what and they tried to get me to fix everything on it. $5,000 more!!!! And to top everything off, my wife just called and said the airconditioning is not working and my baby is crying in the back seat because its too hot. She also said it smells like its burning. I hope the thing burns to the ground (after my family is out of course). This thing is a piece!! Ive made up my mind that i am changing the oil in it and i am not going to fix anything on it unless it keeps it from driving. I could have bought a $20,000 car by now(and believe me it wont be another nissan). haha. Nissan just lost this cusomer for life. Back to Chevy for me.

Sorry, really! I too have the 03 MO and can relate to "if it's not one thing it's another". I bought mine off the showroom floor. 114k now and it is coming apart at the seams. $48k- paid off now and nissans were supposed to last forever. It's not Nissan in general but the first model year curse.
First model years are notoriously "buggy". I knew this when I bought it, but needed a car in 03 to accommodate baby.
I have the fantasy of burning up too. I can't in good conscience unload it to an unsuspecting buyer, which leaves me with dealer trade-in and a cheaper car from their lot ( unless I throw down some cash ). Trying to save home from foreclosure, so more $ on the car nit an option!
Sorry, guess I needed to vent too...

I too feel your pain, my wife and I own a 2006 and have had nothing but problems with it. Drivers side seat bracket broke, fuel sending units quit working, wheel corrosion, suspension bushings have gone bad so we get the clunking noise not to mention the horrible designed windshield wiper arms that when it snows you have to open your hood to clear the snow or break your motor arm.. Nissan has done nothing because we are in fact out of warranty so our loss I guess, If some of these things had happened to a 10 year old car I would feel like the car manufacturer would have less responsibility but 4 years old and my seat fails Then when I pulled the seat to get the repair my airbag light is on and Nissan wants $99 to fix... really!! My wife and I are not the least overweight yet our seat broke. I love the idea of this car but it has been nothing but issues and will never buy a Nissan again!

Boy does this sound familiar, I have a 06 SL owned it for about 11 months and in the past 11 months that car has cost over 7K in repairs not including maintenance, seat, suspension work, front and rear struts, bushings, tie rods, sway bars etc, steering wheel controls. Maintenance factor in another 2K, which was out of pocket, the repairs were covered by the extended warranty i bought a week before that expires i will be trading in the car, and it will be the last Nissan product i ever buy.

It's really a pain and stress, I'm both sorry and happy I'm not the only one going through this. The thing that makes me angry is the fact that when you talk to the dealer about these common issues they act like they have never heard of it..I know full well they have seen these problems over and over but they do a good job at playing stupid.. I also failed to mention my exhaust flange rotted through and we have the "stubborn fuel filling" problem also, that's fun in the winter time We now have a car were paying $500 a month for, bass aquards in a loan and atleast 2k in repairs that need to be done on an 06 my car.. I feel wronged for some reason.

I bought mine in 2003 and promised myself that I would turn it in for a new one after 8 years. This was the 8th year and I decided to keep it due to questions about the economy, my job (my company got bought out, though it looks like they will be keeping me on), and wanting to buy a house. It's traditionally advisable to buy a house then a car, instead fo the other way around. That way you know how much you can afford for car payments.

Of course, just after I make the decision to keep it, I lost the transfer case ($4500) and my driver's seat bracket let go (going to get a family friend to weld it for me). Fortunately I paid it off 3 years ago, so I don't have a car payment on top of the repairs.

I'm hoping that I can nurse it along for another 2 to 3 years without anything else major going wrong. I should be in a good position then to buy a new car.
