Default Converted to hid - now no high beams - need help

Hello everyone!
Replaced my stock headlight assemblies (2006) with the hid ones purchased from ebay. Low beams work, but when i turn on the high beams, lights just cut out. When i turn the low beams back on, light come back on.... Have no idea what could be wrong... Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

Maybe someone could direct me to some resource where this subject is discussed?

If all you did was replace the halogen bulb with an HID bulb, then of course you will lose the high beams. The halogen bulb is dual filament, so running high beam just uses a second filament (I believe). With an HID bulb, you have no filament, so it has one setting, on or off. So if you put an HID bulb into a halogen assembly, that's all you will get, one light output.

How does the OEM HID setup work? Well it has one output for the HID bulb as well, but the projector assembly contains a shutter which normally blocks part of the light output on lowbeam. Switch to highbeam, the shutter moves out of the way and the light is allowed to project further down the road.

We need more info. Did you replace the entire headlight assemblies or did you just buy retrofit HID bulbs for your OE halogen headlights (an HID capsule retrofitted onto a halogen base)? I really hope it's the former...

The HID set you purchased was a low-beam only. You have to purchase the low/high beam bulbs that match your ballasts.

The OP stated he "Replaced my stock headlight assemblies (2006) with the hid ones purchased from ebay." I interpret this as meaning he replaced the halogen headlight assemblies with OEM HID assemblies. If that is the case then the problem is with the circuitry that controls the hi/lo beam shutter, not the lamp itself.

The problem can be resolved by soldering a short jumper wire across two legs of the lamp relay.

As Eric stated, either setup (OE HID system or illegal HID kits) uses a single bulb for both low and high beams in the MO. In the OE HID setup, a D2S bulb provides light for both low and high beams; the headlamp assembly has a mechanical shutter that blocks the high beam light until you engage the high beam, causing the shutter to flip down. The halogen headlamp on 1st Gen MO's uses a dual-filament bulb; engaging the highs sends power to the second filament. To clarify, illegal HID kits use a crude mechanism that tilts the hacked halogen-based HID bulbs upwards (spewing blinding light into other driver's eyes).

@nijoe - no I'm. Not that's what I did to my HID conversion before, it works fine.
