'04 Murano. Changed the front and the right side (front of engine) motor mount. Replaced the electronic mount with a solid and unhooked the harness to the mount at the connector. Wife drove it about 3 miles, turned it off, sat for 30 mins. Now it starts fine, but has little to no throttle response. Battery was unhooked for 2 hrs, did the idle relearn. Found the air intake hose open behind the MAF, took apart the intake to the throttle body to make sure it was clean. Performed the relearn procedures again (3). Same result. Starts and idles, no throttle response. If I tap on the brake pedal I can get the car to idle up, but slowly, absolutely no power in D or R. The MIL light is not on, and there are no codes, used the onboard diagnostic. I dont think this is related to the work I just performed. Alternator or CVT? No warning lights are on. All fuses and relays are ok in CAN system. All suggestions welcome.

The thing that jumps out at me is the fact you did not get the correct motor mount. I have absolutely no idea what will happen if you don't have your motor mount plugged in. I think it's kinda ridiculous that we have fluid filled mounts anyway but it's just the nature of the beast. When the engine is idle, the electric mount is soft, and at higher RPM's it gets hard. Maybe the ECU is thinking there is something wrong and not allowing any power to go to the CVT.
Someone else chime in here. Maybe I'm off in right field? I hope not.

I suppose it would be possible for a disconnected harness of the electric mount to cause this kind of problem but it would be highly unlikely. The fact that your wife was able to drive a few miles before it stopped also tells me it is not related. However, chances are that during installation you disconnected a plug for a sensor. I would look in and around the area you worked on, looking for any connector to CVT or engine which may have come loose or disconnected.

Did you happen to disconnect your Throttle Body when you worked on it?!?!?
I had something similar happen to me once when I went to troubleshoot my Throttle Body (TB). I unplugged the connector on the TB to clean the contacts, then plugged it back in. While driving, I lost all response from the gas pedal and my MO would not move at all! I inspected the TB again and noticed the connector had wiggled out just enough to not make contact. I pushed on the TB connector until I heard a *click*. I had to start and shut down the motor a few times in order to get my MO to move again. Maybe...just maybe, your TB connector is loose and it needs to be reseated. I suggest unplugging it, replugging it, then trying again. Hopefully it's something simple?

Okay, its fixed.
First let me thank you guys for all of your posts, not just this thread, as you've saved me a lot of money over the past couple of years. Occam's razor. Check your fuses first. The problem was not related to my motor mount replacement, but rather the air intake coming apart; again. Going to get the TSB on that done very soon. I saw that the air line had come apart and in my haste I decided to unhook the battery to do the relearn, which is absolutely not necessary. MAKE SURE TO UNHOOK THE NEG TERMINAL FIRST, btw. FYI...More on the motor mount. I used a 'solid' aftermarket mount with no sensor. Just unhooked it at the closest connector. (Hardly notice the extra vibration at idle.) TIPS: I used a block of wood on a floor jack positioned directly in front of the oil pan. (You really dont have to move the engine very much.) Its easier to remove and put in the front mount if you take the right side mount(front of engine) loose. I replaced the right mount as well. The only way I could get the front mount in and out of the vehicle was to remove the battery and the battery base. It just drops right in. When installing the mount, put the bolt into the engine side of the mount first. Then lower the engine until the bottom holes line up. Again, thank you so much guys! |
