Default Fog Light Switch Wiring

Hi Guys, I am trying to connect power for my new screen to the fog lights switch (positive), (so it turns on only when I turn on the fog light and I don't need a separate switch).

The problem is I found in the manual that the power (output) is at the IPDM in the engine room, where the combination switch for the fog light sends signals to the BCM using Input 4 and Output 5, (correct me if I am wrong)

The question is how can I connect this so when I turn on the fog lights I get + power, which wire should I tap into? (under the dash, since the monitor is in the cabin and it will be more work running another wire into the engine bay)?

Thanks a lot, since I am not very "wiring minded" so any help from you pros are appreciated.

Generally, what you want to do is find a wire that gets 12V when you turn on the switch, and connect a relay to that wire. The wire you have selected becomes the trigger for the relay.

On the relay, you run a separate 12V power source to the switched side's input terminal, with your fogs connected to the switched side's output terminal.

When the light switch is pressed, the relay side turns on and closes the contacts on the switched side. This completes the connection between the 12V input and the fog light terminal.

In other words - the normal application is to add a relay to activate the fogs.

It's easy to add fog lights to any vehicle. Need a relay, some red and black insulated wire, electrical tape, and some female spade connectors.

In each relay is a switch coil that will close a switch when energized. Simply find the 12V line that feeds your drivers side headlight low beam. Tap that line and run it to one side of the coil of the relay. Run the other side of the coil of the relay to ground. Then run one side of the switch on the relay to your battery power, then run the other side of the switch to the fog lights. Easy!

If you want to be able to turn on and off your fogs via a switch without turning on your headlights then you'll need a toggle switch you have to mount somewhere. Running power from the battery is the easiest. Otherwise, go to your fusebox and fine an empty space that gets power. I'm thinking that the IPDM will ultimately kill power to your whole system after a bit of time when the engine is turned off and the key is pulled from the ignition. Just monitor this on your fuse box and route from there.

Thanks for the inputs guys, but I am trying to find the wire that is active (ie. positive) when ONLY the fog light switch is on, but not sure which one it is. (under the dash)...
Can someone help me as I really need to get this connected.
Thanks

Do a search for daytime running lights and I believe that you will find our answer. It is easy with a new harness and a relay. which is what I chose to do. I also added a switch so that I could opt to switch it on and off.
