Default Murano Engine Sounds Like a Mack Truck

My wifes 2004 Murano SE AWD CVT Auto with 120K miles recently brought to my attention that sometimes the engine sounds like a Mack Truck semi engine. It sounds like it is coming from the timing chain area... but I have not been able to exactly pinpoint it. It is not dependant upon RPM and it is pretty random but happening more often than not. BTW - I changed the spark plugs and IM gasket at about 110K miles. I also, hollowed out the catalytic converters at 110K miles as I had one fail and did not have the funds to buy new ones.

It is time for an oil change, and it has been getting pretty cold lately, but this is a noise I have not heard before. More of a deeper sound than a high speed whine (like the sound on Maxima engines). HAs anyone had any issues with TSB-NTB06-042 before?

I have an 04 Maxima and I have already replaced the timing chains and tensioners so I am very familiar with this. Hopefully Turbizzy gets on and can help me out here!

Welcome to the forum.

My vote would be for a defective fuel damper.

Engine sounding a bit loud.
