Lightbulb Transmission Light + Interior Lights + License plate light

Greetings Murano owners, i was looking into replacing a few lights and thought id gather a few words of wisdom from you guys.

First of all my transmission light (inside the car where you switch gears) is no longer working, anyone know which bulb needs to be replaced, or any other info appreciated.

Secondly, i wanted to get white led lights and replace all the yellow lights inside the car including the door panels, side lights, and the top light.

Lastly, i also wanted to get blue/white led lights for the license plate lighting.

So, i have no idea what bulbs to get for any of the above, if anyone did anything similar, and is willing to give me some advice and links or model numbers id be a happy murano owner. thanksss

hook-

What year is your MO? The reason I ask is because I believe there is a thread or two that list the various bulbs used on the 1st-gen MOs.

I bought these and like the result:

8x T10 194 168 501 4-smd 3528 LED Car Light Bulb White - Amazon.com (D.A.V. Electronics)
- Rear Side Marker
- License Plate Light

1x Putco 980116 Universal LED Dome Light
- Dome Light

1x Putco 230194W-360 LED 360-Degree Premium Replacement Bulb -2 Piece
- Parking Light

1x Putco 230921W-360 LED 360-Degree Premium Replacement Bulb -2 Piece
- Backup Light

2x Putco 230003 LED Vanity Light Replacemen
- Vanity Lights

4x Putco 230125 Universal 1.25" LED Dome Light Festoon Bulb
- Trunk Lights
- Courtesy lights (Front)

4x Putco 980112 Universal LED Dome Light
- Driver map lights
- Passenger map lights

1x Hoen Vega D2S 5800k
- Headlights

1x 9006 Hoen 55w xenonmatch bulb pair
- Fog Lights

2x 74-xHP3: Wedge Base LED bulb 74-AHP3: Blue (Superbrightleds)
- Shifter light (modified holder to turn bulb to shine in right direction)
- Coin box light

2x 74-xHP3: Wedge Base LED bulb 74-AHP3: Amber (Superbrightleds)
- Glovebox light (modified holder to turn bulb to shine in right direction)
- Light for space under radio (modified holder to turn bulb to shine in right direction)

I changed out all of the interior lights with white LEDs. I like it a lot better than the original bulbs, plus I can now see things in the car at night. The only interior LEDs that I am iffy about are the Vanity lights as the LEDs are quite bright, but not bright enough to clearly see our face, and you look right at them when looking at yourself in the mirror. Then again, I rarely use the Vanity.

I also changed out the shifter light with a blue LED, the coin box with a blue LED, the glove box light with an Amber LED (couldn't find a white version), and the space under the radio with an Amber LED. Because of the design of the LED, the light was shining away from the opening of the holder, so I had to make some minor modifications to the holder so that the light would shine through the mount hole.

For the exterior I changed out the headlight bulbs, foglight bulbs, license plate bulbs, and backup light bulbs. They all make a hughe difference. I like the white light that my headlights throw out and you can esily see the road on dark rainy nights. I don't believe that I changed out the parking lights, I think that I still have the bulbs kicking around.

Changing out the headlight and fog light bulbs on the Murano is a pain. The headlights are easier than the folg lights. To get at them you have to take apart the wheel well protector and the protector pieces under the front of the car.

For all of this you are looking at $350 to $400. The headlight and fog light bulbs themselves cost $130, shipped. You can do this cheaper. For example, there are many LED suppliers on eBay. The difference is that they usually aren't quite as bright.

I haven't had any problems with any of the bulbs with the exception of one of the license plate bulbs. I'm thinking that it's just loose, but I haven't had a chance to take the hatch molding off yet to take a look at it. I'll likely do this in the next few days as I need to grease my hatch handle for the winter.

Nice job! When you tackle a project, you really tackle the project.

if you think that this was off the hook, I also installed blue led lights in my external door handles and tied it into the interior lighting system. When I hit the unlock key the LEDs light up the handles, when I hit the lock key they go out, similar to the way the interior lights work.

But this project requires its own post....

I like that idea!

There are two or three mods that were engineered by members that I wish were part of the MO's OEM package. This belongs in that category. I really like the idea of the door handles lighting-up when the UNLOCK button is pressed.

We definitely need pictures of this mod.

Are they tied in to the interior lights?

Yes, they are tied to the interior lights. However, they are also tied to the power system. I installed a 3-way switch that allows me to turn them on, off, and based on the interior lights timer. I plan on doing a write-up in a few weeks. Right now I am working on a write-up on replacing the OEM speakers, my latest project.

Hi! Can you share how you replaced the Backup light bulb specifically? I'm having a hard time finding info for that light. From what I've read it's not the same as replacing the license plate bulbs that are positioned above the plate. Any help would be so appreciated! I have a 2005 Murano SE.

I don't remember having any problems. I have to check one of my license plate bulbs and grease the handles which requires removing the molding, so I'll see if I can get some pictures this weekend.

I seem to remember unscrewing two screws that held in the bulb panel using a small ratchet and a screwdriver bit. Once I got them out I found out that you can twist the bulb and pull them out like the others.
