Another rear bumper protector question - Nissan Murano

So I was searching around old posts to find my answer but had no real luck. What im wondering...Is the 04-05 rear bumper protector the same as the 06-07 minus the square tabs? I`m getting an 07 bumper that has the holes...But i`m not convinced I want to spend $100 on the shiny chrome one....thinking I`ll just get a black one. Thoughts?

Many members have taken an 06 bumper protector, ground off the tabs, and affixed it to their 03/04/05 bumpers using double-sided tape.

Yeah...that I`m aware of. What i`m wondering is the factory "tab-less" protector exactly the same minus the tabs? would it fit equally on a 2007 as an older model so long as tape is being used?

I ask because I noticed the 2007 bumper has a recess in which the protector lies, the older muranos don`t have this....Wondering if the black "tab-less" would fit equally as well on the 07.

I think that the flat surface on the bumper cover is shorter. I noticed that when I had my original 04 bumper on the 07 protector would stick out just slightly. Not much to notice a difference but it was not a 100% perfect fit. The black 03-05 bumper cover may fit the same way on an 06-07 MO but I don't know of anybody that has actually tried it.
