Default Front Impact Sensor

About 6 months ago, the airbag light came on in our 2005 Murano. At first, just used the key on-off technique to clear the light, but after a while, it did not work.

A friend had a scan tool and was able to determine that the front impact sensor was toast. I called Nissan and was told that the 1 inch by 2 inch sensor (same one from 03-07) was $500 (Canada)! The Nissan rep added that they too believed it was a rip-off and suggested I look for a used sensor.

Is there anyone out there who has any connections to find one of these sensors???? In the end, I have found a couple of on-line sites, which sell the sensor for around $200, which is still high for a sensor.

Thanks for the post/info but there's no need to post the same topic twice. The other one will just be deleted in the end.

Check Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market for good used parts. Have used them a couple times for odd-end projects here and there.

Thanks for the info Warhammer, but after posting in the classified section, I suspected that there would be very little traffic there. In the end, I am not too happy that there are no responses (other than yours).

$200 for the OEM part seems reasonable to me. We're talking about a sensor controlling a safety device that will likely save your life in a collision here. Why take a risk with an old/used part?
