2004 Murano AWD w/105K miles. Has been driven by my wife for about 2 years, so I occasionally get to drive it. Drove it today. As I was pulling out of the parking space while backing up, as I was turning the steering wheel, the queeking sound came from the left front wheel well. I came out had her turn the wheel left and right and could hear the squeek. As she turned the wheels, the sound came from where the strut and the spring coil mounts at the top of the wheel well. Left side only. Any ideas? Maybe some sort of lubricating spray? Is this something major? Is it a strut? I have no clue when it comes to suspension. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

It sounds like the strut bearing. It is the part that centers and contains the strut rod and spring, and is affixed to the top of the strut tower.
I never knew they even existed until I went to replace my struts this summer. I do not believe they are serviceable. Hopefully some other member can verify this. By the way, I just love your saying about the rental papers in the glove box. ![]() -njjoe

An old trick we used to use years ago with a squeek in suspension was to take a spray bottle that was 50/50 liquid dishwashing detergent and water and spray the whee out of the area with the squeek. If the squeek was from a rubber bushing, it almost always killed the squeek.
If it's a strut bearing, chances are that this won't work - but the price is right. Strut bearings are not serviceable and must be replaced...but they're not immediately dangerous, just noisy.
