Unhappy 2005 Murano SL Driver seat problem

Hello All,

I am a new member here seeking some advice.

I bought a used 2005 Murano SL from a Honda dealer ( Palo Alto, Bay are) and also bought a Honda care contract which is valid for another one year.

Now I am having a problem with the driver seat , which is stuck and moves only one side. the right side is jammed and the left side moves. I saw some postings where many of the owners had this problem.

Could some one please tell me how much does it cost to get this corrected? Would this be covered under the Honda care contract?

Thanks in advance.

Your question about the contract depends on the contract. Read the paperwork on your contract and you'll find the answer.

More than likely you'll need to take it to a shop, i'd recommend a nissan dealer imo, and you will most likely be given a preliminary diagnostic estimate for which your responsible in case Honda Care doesn't cover the repair. Once the tech finds the problem (most likely a seat slide motor, track or possibly a stuck coin in the track), the service advisor will contact HondaCare's claim hotline and open a claim. If the repair falls under their coverage then you should only be responsible for the deductible, if you have one.

Another thing you can also do is either stop by or call the Honda dealer where you purchased the vehicle and explain the situation. Who knows, maybe since you just bought it (im assuming) the honda dealer may wanna make good with you and perhaps do all the legwork for you or perform the actual repair as a goodwill.... maybe.... worth a shot...

BTW if you ever need a good, honest dealer to take your Murano to on that side of the bay, take it to Boardwalk Nissan in Redwood City and take to Justin Mills and tell him i sent ya

Question Specs of the plastic worm wheel which engages the worm gear

Does anybody know where I can find the specs of the plastic worm wheel which is almost always the culprit whenever the right side of the power driver seat won't respond? I have an '06 SL

Thanks for the information Izzy.

Can you also suggest any Dealer/Mechanic on the east bay side who can help me with this problem?

Absolutely! ME lol jk. No seriously you can bring it to my job, talk to a service advisor named Jason Manown. He said he's dealt with HondaCare before.

Been a while since I was here...

Anyways, if your warranty doesn't cover the repair, there are instructions on this site on replacing the bad gear versus the whole assembly. If I remember correctly, it took me about an hour total, and about $65 for the gear, iirc. Search for odometergears.com on the forum. Odometergears.com also show a step by step.
