So it was 17 degrees below the freezing point today. The front seats are heated, but we have a family of four, and it got me thinking about heating the rear seats.
I found this universal kit on Amazon that should fit the bill: fixed link: I was hoping to get your opinion on this project, and see if anyone attempted this before? And any advice you could offer. I'm wondering if this is something I could do myself. But I'm not entirely sure how to (1) get under the cloth of the rear seat in a way that will fit back together, and I'm not sure (2) where to wire these heaters into. It's an 07 SL with cloth seats. Thanks.

You have heated cloth seats? I might be wrong, but I always thought heated seats were part of the leather package.

Sorry, I fixed the link now. I just went on amazon and searched for "heated seats", there are three products like this. It's basically a thin heated pad you place under the cloth/leather, and wire into the car, so in theory it should work like factory heated seats.
Yes. It's an 07 SL with cloth seats and the front ones are heated. In Canada it was the base model with an optional sunroof.

Seat heaters in the Murano are ok at best. They take too long to warm up and never get really warm enough for me. Having said that, cloth seats aren't cold to the touch like leather so I find it would be even less effective. Maybe a remote starter would be the best to warm the car up.

The heated seats in my 04 SL are WONDERFUL during the winter. I have the leather package and the seats warm up good. I usually use the high setting then back it off to low after a bit.
I'd say go for it. Where to you plan on placing the buttons?

The problem is that the rear air vents are next to useless in this car, so even after the engine is warm it's really cold in the back seats. After 10 minutes of driving, the front occupants are feeling too warm and want the heat down while rear occupants are still cold. On maximum heat the rear ducts are still blowing cool air.
When I drive alone, I don't even need the heater very often, it's much faster and more efficient to heat the surface of my behind than to raise the temperature of the entire cabin. That's why I want some sort of heated seats in the back for family trips.

I'm used to the seat heaters in our VW. They have 5 settings and, unlike Nissans, aren't shut on and off by ambient air temp in the cabin. These actually get nice and hot. Nissans don't. None of the 16 Nissans I've owned had good seat heaters...including my 2k Maxima that had heated cloth seats.
But if you do want them, being they're aftermarket, they should work better than factory heaters.
