Question Clicking noise in D and R

Hello, my murano S (06) with 45 thousand miles,

when in Drive or Reverse makes some kind of clicking...thumping sound. Its quiet enough not to hear it when driving, or low radio.

Any ideas?

PS since the CVT Warranty is extended...it would be covered by warranty if its a transmission problem

Welcome to the forum.

Whenever I read about clicking in the drivetrain I think of worn CV joints.

If its making the metallic clicking/grinding/crunchy sounds from the front wheels when shifting from D to R or vise versa, then its comming from your front axles. Youll need to remove the outer joints from the hubs, add molykote grease to the splines and wheel bearing mating surfaces, rotate the hubs 180 degrees and reinstall. There's actually a TSB on this.

Depending on your car's delivery date, it may still be covered under power train warranty.

You are right, I was wrong, and turbizzy, as usual, is right on target!

The TSB in question is NTB07-093a.

Yeah if its not the clicking/crunchy sound and more of a thumping sound heard from the dash area then for sure the fuel dampner.

Not sure if the noise on my 2004 SE AWD is the same as yours... but the dealer told me 2 years ago it was related to some kind of electronic device adjusting the engine mount... the noise sounds like when a Redbox vending machine fetching your DVD rental from within the vending machine....
