Default Drivers door locks when left running

I have an 04' Murano SL and if I get out of the car and run into the gas station or some place and leave the car running, when I get back to the car the drivers door is locked. The rest of the doors remain unlocked though. Anyone seen this before?

that's a programming fault that the dealerships need to address....they're supposed to lock when the car hits 15 mph...or that speed can be varied to suit your personal preference....sounds like yours decided to lock you out. When I run in to a quick stop and leave the car running, I always hit the button on the door handle and lock all the doors anyhow...usually when I leave the dogs in there and need to keep the AC running.

Recipe for getting your car stolen in my opinion. I always take my keys with me whenever I leave the car-- even when getting gas. Its just a good habit.

Don't feel the need to lock the doors when my wife is inside. Its not like I live in a big city our anything either.

I'll have the car checked at the dealership. Thanks!

2004 MO does not have auto lock feature while driving. However, the anti theft system will lock the doors if fob is used the unlock the doors but no door is opened within one minute. So my guess is that the anti theft system has become faulty and is reacting to something.

This has happened on every Nissan vehicle I have owned! Thats 3 Maximas and 1 Murano. I just take the keys anytime I am out of the vehicle.

Never happened to me...09 MO....the only time it locks is when driving and the car hits 15 mpg. I believe this is a feature that can be programmed by the dealership to lock the doors in a number of different scenarios. I also seem to recall reading something in the owners manual about different ways to lock your car by pushing the fob button XX number of times....best you look it up. YOu may be able to resolve this yourself thru manual instructions.

If I want to leave the car running while I run into the store (I.E. dogs inside and I leave the AC running on a hot daY) I simply hit the outside door button and it locks the car. I;ve never had it lock on its own like you mentioned. Some cars won't allow you to do this because they have an interior sensor that triggers the alarm if there's movement in the car's interior once the locking mechanism has been engaged. The MO doesn't have this feature.

Some early Murano's had this problem where driver's door would automatically lock behind the driver upon exit from the car.

It happened to me a couple of times as well.

Some members ended up replacing their door wiring harnesses to fix the problem, but general consensus was that it was the "driver's hand" that was the cause. In other words, drivers hand would hit the locking mechanism when opening the door and push it half way to locked position. Then when the door slammed shut, it would lock it all the way.

Armed with this knowledge, I started being more careful when opening the door and it never happened again. So I concluded that, at least in my case, it was I who was unknowingly locking the door.

Maybe it's your wife yankin' your chain and not the programming!

Take care!

I deliver Pizza in my 05'SE So i leave it running while i go to the person's door. It's only happened once.. and it was only the driver door.
One Problem i've had is when i unlock the car and open the door.. the alarm goes off. It hasn't happened for a couple months but i've started to turn the key twice to unlock the whole car instead of just the driver side.
