Default Is it Battery problem or something else?

I just started my 2003 Nissan Murano and no sound from the ignition. The car is dead and I'm stranded, can't go to work. I see the battery sign flashing. I just got the car 3 weeks ago everything was running fine. I am about to install a battery but wondering if this is ony battery problem or is this transmission problem as well. Anyone have experience? I have to call an expert to install as I don't know how. But ever since I heard of tranny problems on Muranos, especially 2003, I have been scared. I just purchased this used 2003 93k mileage Murano less than a month ago.

Sounds like the battery to me. Try to jump it. If it starts, it's the battery. Then you can drive over to an AutoZone and they'll swap it out for you.

I'm hoping it is battery too...The key also has refused to come out of the ignition...well thanks for ure response. The battery installers will stop by in a few hours as I don't want to take the chance of driving it out and getting stranded on the road.

Either dirty battery cables/terminals or the battery.

"The key also has refused to come out of the ignition." this might be a clue to your issue

The gear should be in Neutral or Park before you can start the car and turn the ignition. If it is in any other gear, then that is why you are not able to start your Mo.
Also you can only take your key out of the ignition if the gear are in "Park" position

The gear is in 'park' when the key was stuck, battery down (and battery was healthy a day before). Anyway, it is being worked on as we speak as I had to find other means to go to work. I'm still hoping that it is just battery. Nothing was left on overnight that will run down the battery that quick, however, who knows how long it has been at the dealers being test driven.

On another note, since this is a new car to me let me ask...when I press the auto lock and unlock, all doors obey command except the driver side, which I have to manually lock or unlock, am I doing something wrong or is this a defect that the dealers can help me work on?

IF the battery was just jumped and was not fully charged on a battery charger my guess is in the next couple of weeks or so if not sooner you will be posting here that your battery is once again dead.... you were left stranded. Jumping does not restore a depleted battery. Have the battery load tested and charged or plan on being stranded again in the near future.

Amen. If t'were mine, it would have gone straight home and onto my charger. I have no idea how anyone gets by without a battery charger.....because stuff happens.

Sorry, I did not complete the story - Brand new battery was installed, I did not want to take the chance again. Old battery was removed. Not sure how it still ran out completely, but I will take the good news and run with it...

That's most likely a very good move. The car's old enough that even a replacement battery could be weak by now.
