After not driving my 2003 SL for a week or so I noticed a 6 inch puddle of oil on the floor of my garage. I had to get the oil changed anyway so I did that came back, cleaned up the oil off the floor, put some newspaper down and haven't seen any since. This was 3 or 4 months ago. The small puddle was under the engine compartment on the passenger side. The oil change guy said he looked for the leak but didn't see anything and thought it came from higher up, he was under the car. Any ideas what this could have been?
I had a seal leak on the passenger side of the steering rack and pinion unit where the right steering link comes out of the unit, oil was dripping out of the dust boot covering the shaft seal area. Dealer replaced the entire R&P unit under warranty, claim they have never seen one leak there before.:nerd:
Yes i agree coloure of oil.? would greatly help in diagnosing what was on
Your Garage floor.? just keep in mind its not common for muranos to leakpower steering fluid from a bad hose or pump.
I had motor oil on the floor in the quantity you describe. I thought it was the filter, but it was actually the oil cooler gasket between the block and filter. Easy fix.
