Hi there, Am a new poster so please be kind!

Recently got a UK based 2006 Murano. It drives nicely but I am unable to use the manual part of the gearbox. I can move the gear shift into the position and up and down but nothing changes and the dash remains on "D".
Does anyone have any ideas what this might be or has anyone else had this problem. Any/all help much appreciated! Thanks

For those of us not familiar with "UK based Murano" can you post a picture of the shifter? If it is anything like the US models then it is electronically controlled and should have a plug under the shifter that may have come loose or is corroded.

Right. There are no gears, just moving pulleys a that change the drive ratios - and those pulleys are electronically controlled.

I think you have your finger on the problem - damaged wiring, probably in the console in the area where the "shift" lever moves.
