Valve Seals - Can They be Replaced without removing the head?

Hi guys

On the 3.5 can the valve seals be changed without removing the head?

It seems from my research that this can be done on a lot of Nissan models, but not 100% sure on the Murano?

My concern is maybe this is not possible due to the cam chains???

Don't want to have to remove the head as I believe this is an engine out job and major work!?!?

Any help appreciated!

Short answer is yes,,

You have to pull the camshaft off, to get to the valves.

So this is what I did when I did mine.

Pull wiper tray
Pull intake
pull coil packs, and spark plugs
pull timing chain cover
pull cam gears
pull camshafts
with all this done, you are ready to start. you have all your valves there, and you need to pull the springs off. If you do this your valve will drop into the cylinder so you have to prevent this by taking a long rope and feeding into your spark plug hole into the cylinder (you want long so that you have one end out). once this is done, you can turn the lower end via crankshaft bolt. this moves the piston up and pushes that rope against your valve. now you can remove the spring and valve keeper. now pull your valve seal and replace. do this on all valves and then put back together.
