Richtfan is correct. Has been discussed long ago that the only leather part is where you butt and back lands. The rest is fake leather or vinyl.

Well, that is cheap! I opted for leather seats, not vinyl with a touch of leather. Oh well, what can I do. I guess I will use Armor All on the side of my seats and leather conditioner in the center.

Yep, I remember multiple threads concerning this a couple of years ago. My 2004 drivers seat is in tatters in the same spot. I bought a vinyl repair kit, but haven't taken the time to use it yet. Nissan sent me a survey last year (I think) and I mentioned this item which prompted a response "would you tell others about this?". <smirk>

That's also true of much "leather" furniture. Only the contact surfaces are leather, the rest (back and sides) are vinyl which looks like the leather.

I got a quote of 250 to fix it over the phone, which I thought was really high.
I'm just leaving it alone for now and yes it is vinyl not leather.

$250 might be from the need to take the seat apart in order to remove the cover from it. If you are dealing with a real upholstery shop (a lot of places job it out and then double the price) you should be able to do better. If you can actually remove the cover and take it in to an upholstery shop so they just need to replace the panel, I'd expect a bill well below $100. Maybe even $150 for "takee fixee" with a real shop pulling the seat cover off and doing the whole job.

The problem is, real upholstery shops aren't very common any more.

I honestly am just looking around for salvage seats. Taking apart the seat isn't really that hard. I have seen seats far away from me for about 120 100 with all components, just shipping kills it lol.
If I could find a upholstery shop I would probably just get a real Leather piece to be used instead of the weak vinyl.

I found an upholstery shop that charges $350.00 to replace the vinyl side bolsters in leather and fluff up the seat cushion with additional foam to firm it up again. Not a bad price, considering how much Nissan charges for a vinyl/leather seat cushion alone.
