New CVT transmission under warranty at 115,000 miles

Nissan is replacing my CVT transmission under warranty. 2003 Murano with 115,000. The 10 year warranty expires in June 2013. I lost a little sleep over this at first, but I'm now very pleased with Nissan. It started at 107,000 with a hard shift from low to high range. Sometimes a shudder until letting off the gas. Also, a slip at 1800 rpm with a tach jump/flicker. Also a surge when comming to a stop from high to low range. I found the extended warranty info on this forum... Thank you. Note: The Nissan dealer told me the vehicle was not covered under warranty and said not to worry about it since it has lasted to 107,000 miles. I changed the fluid and drove it to 115,000 and it got worse. Brought it to a different dealer and they acknowledged the warranty right away!

Good to know. I'm pretty sure I'll trade my 07 before the CVT warranty expires. I'll never come close on miles with as little as we drive and with it being non-rebuildable it's just a financial time bomb once you're out of warranty.

My dealer told me 2 weeks ago that Nissan had extended the CVT warranty to 120 thousand miles recently.

How much time to have your MO back as soon as Nissan authorize the cvt replacement?? The dealer told me that they need to order it and when it comes they will begin the work on it...this was this Tuesday...still in my two legs!!

Is this job done within one day?? Or it takes several days?? :/

I'm so pleased that Nissan did authorize without any prob my cvt trans!

Just had mine replaced at 98k. Had no warning sings, it just went out. I had mine at the dealer for 3 days. Two of the days was all the major work involved and the third was just putting the misc pieces back together. Not sure how much total hours were spent on it each day though.

Was he referring to new MOs?? That would be good news, because right now only 2003-2010 MOs are covered to 120,000 miles.

That is not uncommon. Many members have reported similar experiences with their dealers.

I guess it all depends on the dealer, what parts they have available and how busy they are. That would be my guess. They'll give you an approximate time when you take it in. Mine was said between 2-3 days.

Does anyone have a copy of this extended warranty for the CVT transmission? I am a little over 89,000 miles and I started to notice a slight down shift issue at lower speeds. I am having a dealership look at it soon but wanted to have proof of the warranty just in case.

A+ rating for my Nissan dealership and factory representative! They pulled the VIN# and verified the warranty with Nissan USA on a Friday. I brought the vehicle back on Monday and the dealer verified the bad CVT, but the fluid was red and not green. They said some universal CVT fluid can be red, but the Nissan factory rep will need to take a look at it prior to authorizing the replacement. The Nissan rep came in that same day and said to replace it under warranty. He "wanted the customer to be happy and purchase another Nissan vehicle in the future". The new CVT arrived on Wednesday. Ready for pick-up on Thursday. I drove the car home and smelled fluid. Brought it back on Friday. The right side axle seal was leaking. The dealer said it might have been damaged when the axle was removed and reinstalled. It was not covered under the warranty repairs, but they replaced it at the dealership's cost. True story...

Got to this post to late. I was going to say, have them replace all the seals while they have it apart. Very cost effective, since the cost should be just for the parts.
