In September 2012 I bought a 2000 Pathfinder with 170,000 KM FOR $1500, it was a beater, I knew it and planned on puting a few bucks into it and having a decent truck. After a couple of days in my driveway I take it and put some fuel into it, get back home and discover the gas tank has a pretty major leak, I bought a new gas tank for it and took it to a mechanic shop to get it replaced, the mechanic asked me if I had taken it to Nissan for the recall on the front end yet... I say no just bought it, he says he won't let me spend a dime on the truck until I et Nissan to do the recall check since he heard they were pulling these models off the road.
Fast forward one week and I drop it off at my local Nissan dealer, they tell me they will call when they look at it, about two hours later tey call and say they are pulling it from the road (CRAP!!!!) and someone would be in contact with me to negoiate the purchase of my vehicle.... ( sweet could make a few bucks!!!!) in the meantime they hand me the keys to a brand new (less then 100km) Kia Forte until I get my cheque.... About a week later I get the call and they offered me $8000 for my truck (SWEEEEEETTTTT!!!!!). I ended up test driving a 06 Murano S with 85K miles ( US vehicle, I live in Canada) fell in love with it and everything I drove afterwords just didn't compare to it. I know a few others who own Muranos and they all love them. Skip a head a two months, I discover a leak of transmission fluid, make an appointment with NIssan ( due to warranty... ) figuring that it wouldn't get covered I was expecting the worse, but when I called to check on it they tell me it was ready and my cost was $0 they covered it under the extended warranty I love these guys ( the girl at the service desk was smoking so that never hurts), not only did they give me a free $6500 for owning a peice of junk for 2 weeks but they are fixing my 06 for free, safe to say that Nissan has earned a customer for life in me |

Do a Google search. There is a recall in "Salt States" in the US and probably another one for Canada.
"VOLUNTARY SAFETY RECALL CAMPAIGN 1996-2004 PATHFINDER IN SALT STATES LEFT FRONT STRUT HOUSING CORROSION" Nissan will repair or buy the vehicle back if not repairable using insurance value instead of black book value. |

Ya I would consider myself very lucky it worked out that way and thats about it. Its a dealer... and as exciting as it may all be, no dealer is here to be your friend or here to do you favors. They did what was intended and saved themselves from a potential liability issue. Trust me, I would be excited as well but in the end its still a stealership.
