Default failed catalytic converter?

Recently I got the code P0420 and my car smells of gas. I have an 04 with 135k on it, my car makes the loud acceleration noise but my biggest concern is that only smoke comes out of my left side exhaust and not both. So with that I think my cat near the firewall has failed. I been searching the threads and want to replace my cat but i'm not sure if this is the right one (link below). Oh and I live in washington state so an aftermarket cat is fine for me. Any help would be great considering I want this problem to be fixed before it gets any worst.

More Information for EASTERN CATALYTIC 40422

The MO does NOT have dual exhaust. What is does have is a single-exhaust system that terminates in a muffler with dual exhaust tips. Whatever gases enter the rear muffler are free the exit through either exhaust tip.
