I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction on some of the issues I am having with my 2009 Murano SL.
Issue 1: It intermittently starts rough and runs rough. It is throwing codes P0011 and P0021. I bought new camshaft sensors, but cannot figure out where they are installed. (they are not in the same place as the earlier models).
Issue 2: The radio/clock sometimes saves the settings...and sometimes it does not save the settings.
Issue 3: Sometimes the accelerator pedal feels stiff and non responsive. Other times, it jumps when you touch it.
There are a lot of things I really like about this vehicle, but these nagging issues has me on the verge of selling it. I am highly frustrated.
Is your battery on it's last legs? Sounds too simple, but that's easily overlooked. When starting a vehicle with a weak battery, the voltage can drop to a point where memory is erased. Most new cars run rough at first after the battery has been disconnected, until the computer re-learns.
Funny story- I always check my gas mileage by re-setting my trip meter at every fill-up. A few years ago, I thought somebody was siphoning gas out of my tank! Gas was nearly $4/ gallon, so I was looking at locking gas caps, or whatever to to keep the gas stealers away. My truck was having a hard time turning over, and I knew it was time for a new battery. It took me a couple of weeks to realize that the trip meter was re-setting to zero on those hard starts!
About a month later, a friend asked me if I knew anyone who could install motion-detector lights at his house. He said somebody was stealing his gas! I told him my experience, and he just laughed. Sure enough, his battery was almost dead, and he had been checking his mileage!
You mean physically it feels stiff? Murano is drive by wire so there are only wires coming out of the pedal. If it feels stiff or sticky then maybe that is your problem right there?
Interesting thought about the battery. It has crossed my mind, but the problem has been going on for at least a couple years. The weird thing is that the clock/radio presets are saved. However, when I have to change the clock or try to save new presets, they will not save. It reverts to the previous settings when I next start the vehicle. Could something like this occur if cells in the battery are bad? It might be worth replacing it just to see.
Regarding the accelerator pedal, it is really random and strange. Sometimes it feels "normal". Other times, I press it and it feels like it is not moving (or responding). At those times, I have to push much harder than normal and the car rapidly accelerates. It can be a real challenge in bumper to bumper traffic (borderline dangerous).
Anyone have guidance on the location(s) of the camshaft sensors? They are not on the drivers side of the heads, like the earlier models.
