2009 Murano just returned from trip to dealer (extended warranty) to replace front motor mount per NTB12-031 for clunking that had gone on far too long. Prior to taking vehicle to the dealer, I noticed the rear bushing on the driver's side lower control arm is oily on the top. I requested they inspect it while replacing the motor mount. Service advisor told me they looked at it and it was fine. However, I am not convinced.
I ask you, the fine folks of the org, to help me decide if I should keep after them or if you think it looks fine. I admit the rubber looks intact, however, I believe the oily substance is a bad omen indeed. The oily spot has increased in size slightly since I first noticed it.
Murano has close to 75k on it. If you have had yours replaced, please let me know what condition they were in when you did it.
What I don't understand is if the bushing is failing and you're already working on the vehicle under warranty, why say that it's fine? Why not just replace it if the warranty covers it (it does) anyways? Does it need to be ripped up and bouncing around before the warranty will cover it? That is the frustrating part of taking it to the dealer for this kind of stuff. Same deal on the head gaskets. Same deal on the leaking steering rack. Same deal on the motor mount. :8:
