I have a 2009 Murano with 80k miles. A couple of times a month when I start to accelerate after a stop the rpm's go down and I can only go a couple of miles an hour no matter how much I hit the gas pedal. I have to put it in park then put it back in gear and then the car runs fine again. I have had the car at the dealer 5 times now and they can not figure it out. It never does it when they drive it. Can anyone help me. Thanks
First of all, are you using Octane 91 gas in your Murano, its suppose to use only Octane 91. Try doing that first, and then buy the STP Fuel System Cleaner and dump it into your gas tank before fillup. Drive til your tank is nearly empty and message back if its still doing the same thing or the problem is gone?
My MO 2009 is sluggish at times but you have to keep in mind it was first of the second gen MO so it's doesn't have a lot of the tweaks that the later versions of the same gen got. I have only seen this one on a 2009 MO review, basically they said the 2009 got the motor from the 370Z and combined with the CVT. My mine lags I either let it pick up on its own or I mush the peddle a bit into the floor which kicks up the RMPs and I start fly. 2.5 to 3,000 RPM is were the power band lies for me. Going over that is just a waste a time. lol
I too had this problem on my 2009. It was very troubling pull out into a busy intersection and only be able able to move at 2 mph! Anyway, I did two things and I'm not exactly sure which fixed the problem. I had a SES light and had to pass an emissions test within the month. I was desperate to fix the light, hence the reason that I tried two things at once and am not sure which fixed the acceleration problem. One internet suggestion said to change out my EVAP canister control valve. It's similar to this one. I also found something on a Toyota forum where the acceleration issue was said to be very common on certain Corollas. The suggested solution was to clean the AMF sensor with some Air Mass Flow sensor cleaner. CRC Mass air flow sensor cleaner 05110 - Read 5 Reviews on CRC #05110 The Murano's AMF sensor is very easy to get to and remove and clean. It's located on right behind the air filter and takes about five minutes to remove, clean and reinstall. Only two 10mm bolts to remove. I suspect that this was what fixed my acceleration problem. I hope this helps.
I have a 2009 Murano SL AWD with 95000 miles. Never had any engine or CVT problems. Over the past 2 months when I started from stop, sometimes the engine seemed to bog down until I got to around 15 miles per hour at which time it would accelerate correctly. There were no codes. I read all comments on line about possible fixes and thought it was CVT so I took it to local Dealer Dick Smith Nissan. They spent multiple hours trying to find problem and had to go to Factory Techs. Found a cracked Air Duct assembly, pn: 16576-1AA1A DUCT ASSY-AIR. Is running great after about 60 miles. Appears problem gas been fixed.
This makes sense. When I removed my MAF to clean it I also removed the air assembly fixture just to inspect it. When I reinstalled it, I must have tightened it up better and that must have made the difference in why I thought that cleaning my MAF was the culprit.
