Ok, I spent some time on the phone with USA Spec tech support.

The guy was very nice and helpful. He said the dip switches should all be set to off (unless you want to turn on the USA spec AUX interface -- which I didn't since there is an AUX on the Nissan HU). If you want to enable the USA Spec aux input, then dip sw 1 should be on.

Now, here's what everyone is probably waiting on... a description of how the interface works:
(this assumes that you are pretty familiar with how your radio works)

Once you have the iPod plugged in, the iPod playback sorta "sits on top" of the SAT1 input. If you use the AUX button and scroll through the XM/AUX settings 1 time, you'll have iPod on SAT1. If you scroll through again, then SAT1 will be your satellite stations (preset list 1).

Ok, that that is weirdness 1.

Next, forget your preset buttons -- setting them will just mess up your SAT1 presets.

The Tune/Folder dial will become your friend. A quick spin of it changes which playback mode the ipod is in... [all songs/playlist/album/artist/direct mode]. This works forward and backward to scroll through the modes.

A single (clockwise) turn of the tune/folder knob will advance to next song. Counterclockwise goes back a song (or to beginning of current song).

This kinda sucks, since the SW controls advance through the presets... your SW control will only do something when held for 2sec. and then, it just goes to next playlist/artist.
To get to next song, you have to use the tune/folder knob.

Track forward and backward buttons advance through the playlist/artist/etc.

In direct mode, your ipod is used like normal to control the playback.

I forgot to ask about random... although the RAN button definitely doesnt do anything. Also suck. I use random playback the most. Maybe it depends on what the ipod is set to.

Anyway, decent for $145 but no where near perfect. I would love to know how the LE really works -- to see if it is more intuitive.

Grayvader just beat me to the punch...I was just about to do a similar recap. Everything stated is correct.

One thing that irritates me is that I like to listen in Shuffle mode. In "All Songs" mode, there is no way to do this. You have to go to "Direct" mode where you can control Ipod and then Shuffle Songs. Then go back to "All Songs" mode. Shuffle will then work.

Now, with the Ipod touch, this works ok. With the Iphone, PITA. Each time I hook up my Iphone, the screen blinks for about 30 seconds before it starts playing music.

Other than no SW controls (where you can switch songs), it's pretty good. I love the song display, pretty much don't need to touch anything on my Ipod/Iphone.

Glad we have correlation, since I had about 5 mins with the system after being on the phone with the tech guy.

I definitely see the need to organize with playlists now, though. Managing a large library could be cumbersome otherwise.
(plus I have more music on my ipod than I really like)

I didn't take the center console apart, but I might this evening -- It should be pretty quick judging by that description I posted.

The radio removal and install might have take a total of 15 min, and that was while I referred to the instructions. I can do it in 5 now... (you know, the first time you have to learn where the clips are and avoid breaking stuff)
I figure the same thing about the center console... just learning where the clips are is the biggest thing.

(I might also put a USB cable in there (routed for easy access) in case I ever have to update the FW on the little box)

I have been lurking a bit and wanted to add my thanks to grayvader and sshams95. Thanks! And Alloveru, I look forward to hearing about your experience. Please let us know what model of murano you have as you look to be a fellow Ottawan/Canuck and for whatever reason our models differ from those down south. You may be interested to know I have spoken to Futureshop at South Keys and they will do the install if I bring a unit in.

ssham95, Has yours worked properly everytime since you installed? Mine seems to flake out a lot. Like I can't change the playlist mode by quick turning the tune/folder knob...
Sometimes it starts up in a different playback mode than I had left it in.

And with my iPod classic, I've been completely unable to do anything in random mode. The iPod appears to turn off shuffle when it's plugged into the interface.

Everyone else... if you're on the fence, you might want to let us get some more time logged on these things.

If I put my Iphone/Ipod Touch in Shuffle mode before I hook up to interface, it will play in Shuffle mode. I have a Classic laying around somewhere, I can test it to see if I get same results.

I do not use Playlists and may start to. But from playing around....I noticed that if you are in Playlist mode, you can use SW control to go up and down....this switches between your playlists. You will then need to use the knob to switch between songs.

The first couple of days I was getting flaky results also. It seems to have settled down now. I also did a full reboots on my Iphone/Ipod....this seemed to help quite a bit, especially on Iphone. I don't think the Iphone OS is well suited for this type of accessory.

Also, I want to let everyone know that after you hook this up, you will still be able to use SAT, if you are a subscriber. Your Ipod needs to be disconnected. BUT, you will lose half of the onscreen characters. I'm only getting 8 characters on the display for XM.

that was a pretty easy install... i am still playing around with the interface as well. i do find it kind of buggy... ie if you put it in direct mode you can't get back. i also have a hard time getting my presets to work, as well a hard time getting my satelitte radio working again, gotta alway unplug the ipod which is kind of annoying.

one major issue i see right now though, i am wondering if you guys experienced this or not, but my passenger air bag sensor doesn't shut off now when people are sitting in the passenger seat, and the air bag light on my dash blinks all the time. any thoughts?

Sounds like maybe you didn't plug the thing in down at the bottom of the front control panel. Maybe.

That flakiness you are having sounds just like mine. We need to roll all this feedback up to USA spec. They sounded very willing to listen.

The presets aren't supposed to be used with iPod mode.
You should be able to scoll back through the sat/aux lists and get sat to come back without unplugging.

Keep the feedback coming!

that was my first thought... i forgot to plug something back in. i disconnected everything put it back to "factory" and the light on my dash is sitll flashing... ooops! i replugged the ipod controller back in and got that working again. i somehow now have the ability to flip between satellite and ipod without having to unplug the ipod now though!

i guess i will have to bring it in to the dealer and play dumb, all of the sudden it just came on! haha

and geofizz, don't go to south keys and pay them to do it... not worth it... i am not sure who the installer is there now, but i don't think is really worth paying FS to install it. the one on ogilvey had a really good installer not sure if he is still there or not though.

Does your steering wheel controls still work? I just noticed on the way to my dealership that mine aren't working at all. The cruise control does but not the radio controls including the handsfree.

Also has anyone heard of this before, I calls my dealership to set up an appointment for tomorrow to get the steering wheel controls looked at, but they said they can't service my car because they don't service my area until Friday. Seriuosly I can now only service my car on certain days? WTF?

All of my radio and bluetooth controls work fine when Ipod is disconnected.
