Default Touch-up Paint for LE Wheels

For those looking for touch-up paint for your LE wheels and are finding that Nissan lists nothing in their paint codes, I have found that Duplicolor #88-000511 Platinum (M) is pretty much a "right-on" match. It's actually listed as a Nissan color for the late 90's. Duplicolor's clear coat #DS-125, finishes the job. These are 5 oz. spray cans, but just spray a small amount into a small, plastic dixie cup and then touch up with a small brush. Hope this helps all those that might get a slight curb rash. Take care!

Jim

Depending on how bad your rash is and how involved you want to get with correcting the damage, I found this interesting procedure. Take care!

I think the color code is: ns00595

I was unable to find it using the #88 above.

Mr3Putt,

That might be another color. I just double checked the two cans of Duplicolor that I recently bought and they both have #88-00511 printed on the paper label on the cap and also printed directly on the metal bottom of the can. Then again, they could have updated the number I purchased mine from a Murphy's/O'Rieilly Auto Parts store. They found a listing for it when I gave them the 88-00511 number and ordered the cans for me. I had them in two days. Hope this helps. Take care!

Hi Red...

Just curious if you by chance have any pics you could post of the paint color that you found (platinum), preferrably after you sprayed it on the wheel(s)? I have been searching for a hyper silver color (at least I think that is what the 20" LE wheels original color is) with no luck. It seems that hyper silver is only manufactured overseas because of the lead content in the paint, so our options in the U.S. are very limited to find a similar color. If the platinum color you found is close, I will probably give it a shot, but no stores around me stock the color so I will have to order it, and I would love to know how close of a match it really is before I order it.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I purchased mine for touching up wheel rash that has yet to happen, for I know it will occur sooner or later. I dabbed some of the paint on a well waxed wheel (easily removed) to see how it matched after drying. It was a pretty good match and blended in quite well, but still wasn't something I would paint large areas of the wheel with. Definitely good enough to do something like I provided a link to earlier. Hope this helps. Take care!
