Yes, the whole panel has to be removed. Not a big deal, just pull gently and be patient.

Now that we've established that this thread is actually about license plate lights, can anyone enlighten me on what is involved in replacing the backup lights on a 2011 LE? I've searched a lot of threads but only turned up info on pre-2009 models. Thanks!
Edit: Never mind. I've managed to get hold of a 2011 MO service manual at Nissanhelp.com | All About Nissan. It appears that the process for replacing the backup lights is much the same as replacing the license plate lights in that removal of the interior liftgate cover is required to access the backup light assembly. Maybe a project for this weekend. |
