Default You inspired me.

No more beeping for me.

Since I already had the hitch installed, i came up with a way to end the beeping. It's not the cleanest, but it works. Just on the other side of the gromet is the space by the spare tire. I opened that up and there were the wires just waiting to be cut. According to the SM, the light blue wire is the 12V supply for the beeper. I cut it and taped it up. If I ever want it back, all I would have to do is twist or even soldier them back together. See pid!

This actually seems a little better, this is in the trunk right, and not under the car? This seems like it would be easier to fix if you ever need to. Which wire was it, can u put a arrow on it? Since there are a lt more wires in this shot I would want to be absolutely sure wich one.

Yes, in the trunk right behind the spare tire. There are 4 wires in that go from the main harness through the gromet. I pointed to the light blue wire I cut in this pic.

Well i did it, and now i feel like this is the car that should have come off the lot. That beeping is just so annoying, to have it quiet is very nice and just looks cool. Before it sounded like the car was gonna launch or something with the beeping and the flashing. Thanks for the picture i was able to find it right away. This was so much easier then going under the car and very easy to access.

Funny.......... When I purchased my '11 Murano the beep beep tailgate annoyed me a bit. I learned quickly via the Service Manual how to disable it by disconnecting a connector. Couldn't get to that connector as I had a Nissan trailer hitch installed so did not disable it. No, I would not bastardize a factory harness by cutting it.

Long story short, thanks to that beep beep, damage to my rear hatch was prevented twice already, in the last 12 months. IF I have the Murano in my garage (rarely) and I inadvertently open the rear hatch, it will make hard contact with the garage door opener lifting bar. (metal to metal/paint contact) There would be damage even though the lift gate would eventually stop due to resistance. Anyway, twice now while the Mo was in the garage and while I was in the vicinity of the garage, (with fob in my pocket) I activated the lift tailgate button on the fob and the lift door started up to imminent peril. Thanks to the beep beep getting my attention, I was able to get over to the lift gate and stop it until it aborted its upward movement. For me I will not be disabling the beep beep as I appreciate it now where I did not initially.

I have been following this thread since I got my 2011 SL last year. I too found the beeping annoying an unnecessary. But I had the same problem as some of you; I found the socket which was well described by falconsfan78, but I just couln't get the jack out of the socket.

I finally got it out. Turns out it is held in place by a plastic clip on the jack which snaps into place in the socket; like any well designed connection in a moving object that might vibrate. The clip needs to be compressed to release it. There is a spot to squeeze and compress but my fingers aren't strong enough to compress it in the awkward position in the tight space. The key for me was to approach the connection from the right-hand side of the car. I put my head about under the right exhaust tip and looking up I could see the right side (appears to be left when looking up at it from underneath) of the jack which is where it needs to be compressed. Then I was able to use a small, stubby pair of pliers, about 3 1/2 inches long. These would fit in the small place and I could get one side of the jaws in the compression point. I squeezed, and it came right out. Wow!

I too was reluctant to cut a wire in the harness of a brand new vihicle, so I'm glad this worked out.

Hope it helps someone.

I know what I'll be doing this weekend.

Take care!

Nice Job tjmatx, that could have come in handy. Though i have been known to pinch my fingers with pliers so it might have not worked for me. Alas i already cut the stupid wire. I figure if i sell it won't be big deals because it would probably go unnoticed.

Bill you have a vaild point about it, but for me the noise was just to annoying. I really wish Nissan had just gave you the option to turn it off, like they do with the horn when you lock the doors.
