Dash Rattle Follow up questions

First of all, thanks from a new member (2010 pre-owned Murano S) to the folks on this forum for all of the help I have already received.

I read another thread on this topic and I am confident the source of my rattle is also the cowl.

In reading the service manual, in the EXT section where it explains how to remove the cowl, it states

"When performing the procedure after removing cowl top
cover, cover the lower end of windshield glass with urethane

etc."

Later in the section on installation, it states

"Always replace cowl top cover EPT sealer on rear of vehicle with a new one when installing old cowl
top cover"

I am not sure what this means. Have others done this? If so, can someone explain? Thanks in advance.
