| My tire guy is recommending Hankook Ventus RH07 tires to replace my original Goodyear Eagles. He says performance is better than Eagles, Michelin CrossTerrain, Toyo OpenCountry, and ToyoProxes. He says only negative is snow traction. Can do you think, should I go ahead?? |

They are probably OK, but who knows for sure.
The guy that sells them seems to be the only one recommending them.
IMO, understanding that performance doesn't equate to mileage, the Cross Terrains are likely the best you are going to get, but may cost too much for you.
I can understand that.
They seem to be priced about the same as the Eagles.
I expect them to be in the same class as the OEMs.
As a matter of fact Hankook IS the OEM tires on some inexpensive cars like Kia.
Was there anything about the eagles that bothered you in particular?
Read the results of the various tires right here, or go to TireRack and read their reviews.

| Thanks Homer, my tire man said Michelin a poor choice for improved performance. Price is not a serious issue for me. I just want improved performance, if that is available. If not, I will just replace my GY Eagles. I need to decide quickly, as my son is borrowing the car next weekend for a road-trip. All comments welcome. |

Just from looking at the tread pattern, it certainly appears to be more car like than the Michelin CT's, so I'd wager it might give you better handling at the expense of snow traction, just like your tire guy says.
Michelins are good tires, but if there is something I've learned from trying a lot of different tires on various vehicles, price does not always equal performance. |

| Thank you Eric. So, if price is not a big issue, do you recommend the Yokohama Geolanders? |

Bman-
Do you live in a region where snow is a deciding factor?

I would strongly disagree to this statement. I have found the CTs a significant improvement over the GYs - for only a few dollars more (about $80 the set of four) The rain traction is superb (as is the snow - for an all season. But if you want snow tire performance, get a snow tire!)
Two things I don't scrimp on - tires and brakes. They save your life (or your family's). Why even think about taking a risk.
Homer is right - check the Tirerack ratings! |

| Yes, I'm in Connecticut, so we do get snow, but I am retired, so don't need to drive in snow much. I can't complain much about the Goodyears, but I would like improved handling, and I'd be willing to pay more to get it. So far, however, I don't see a clear winner. All advice welcome. |

| Thank you Craigster, I will now go to TireRack ratings. Never done that before. |
