Hello Gang. It's been a while since I last posted.
I purchased the Zenrin 6.5 maps for my 2004 Murano some months ago, and have a huge amount of trouble with it working properly. The bottom line is that it can no longer plan routes over 100 miles or so. I live in Central NJ, and can no longer plot routes to the DC area, which I could easily do w/ the 6.2 maps. I have tried many cities and POI's, most to no avail.
I have been on the phone repeatedly with Zenrin, mostly some kid named Christopher, who insists that I have a hardware problem, and is very self-righteous about it. I argue that it cannot be a hardware problem since the hardware works fine with the 6.2 software. After too much interaction, Zenrin sent me a fresh DVD, and that one has the same problem as the first. I'm going to call the them again and demand my money back but wanted to first check with the group to see if anyone else is having this problem.
I'm fed up with Zenrin and their arrogance.
thanks all. |

I don't have NAV so I may be way off base here, but is it possible to re-install your "old" 6.2, and if so, see if the supposed hardware problem is evident on 6.2? Just a thought.

Oh yea. Did that right away. I put the 6.2 map back in and it works fine. The "upgrade" comes with a program disk that you are supposed to run prior to using the new map. I ran the install prior to the first time I got them, and was afraid that the updated software would render the previous map unusable. Thank goodness the old map DVD works just as it did before.
Someone suggested that it might be a firmware issue in the hardware. I can ask my friendly Nissan service department next time I go in.
Thanks for the response. |

| I think it is most likely a firmware update, newer maps have more details and a firmware might be your only bet. |

| I can get you a 6.6 firmware update if you want. |

Thanks but no thanks. I took it to the dealer, who cannot resolve the issue. The best they could do was offer up a replacement DVD controller for $2400. I put the original disk back in and told them I'll use a $300 mobile unit if I need real directions.
I will now use the 6.5 disk as an expensive coaster. Unless, of course, someone wants to buy it for $100 plus s/h.
:1: Thanks all |

| that seems like a little bit of a waste. the firmware cd I dont think is copy protected etc. meaning you have to pay to get the firmware. I could do that it wouldnt be a problem. Just to test it and see if it works. worth a shot right? |
