Does anybody have any tips or tricks that makes changing the power steering belt and the other belt any easier? I have started by removing the FR wheel and going through the wheel well.
Thanks guys. |

I figured out how to change the belts.
1. remove FR wheeel
2. remove plastic wheel well cover
3. loosen bolt that holds the belt tensioning pulley in place
4. loosen bolt on power steering bracket (bolt is horizontol)
5. from under the hood, tighten (yes clockwise) the tall goldish bronzish looking nut. This will release the tension on the pulley.
6. From under the MO, tighten the vertical bolt that is tensioning device on the power steering pump. This will slide the pump down, releasing tension.
7 remove old belts.
8. replace with new ones.
9. reverse order of assembly and be happy you just saved $280.00 in labor.
The two belts cost me a total of $29.00 and this took longer than it should but it was my first time and no manuals to help.
It should take 45 minutes to an hour.
Good luck |

I had mine done by my mechanic and he charged me <>$36 for the belts and $55 labor.
With tax, just under $100.

I pulled into the dealer and asked about changing the belts on my wife's old sentra, it was just as obscene. I went straight to the parts store and bought two belts for about the same price you did and did it myself.
Yep, it was a pain.
Yep, I paid myself well over $100 to do it myself (and it was done right the first time).
Good for you. |
