Tire pressure question?? - Click HERE for Original Thread

This may be a simple question to some, so hopefully you can help. I just swapped back to my oem wheels for the winter, and they seems to ride a little hard. What tire pressure do you guys keep them at for an optimum ride?

Check the Tire Information Label on the door jamb for the OEM recommendation, which I think is 33psi. Personally, I keep them at 35psi.

And, the tire pressure should be checked when the tires are 'cold', after sitting all night for me.

The pressure will rise as the tire rolls and heats up but that's taken into consideration by the tire manufacturers.

Try testing it out at 35lbs, I never go less. At 38 you may like it better but that depends on how you like the feel of it! You should check tire pressure at least once a month for optimum wear and when they are cold if possible or add a couple lbs!

An Optimum ride?
As opposed to optimum handling?

I would set them at 33 pounds, which is Nissans suggestion.

I compromise between ride and handling and use 35 all around.

I do 35psi front and 33psi rear.

I think it is a good compromise between ride and handling.

I keep mine between 35 & 38 psi cold all around which gets up to about 40 psi when operated for an hour or more. With 35K mi on OEM tires I have good wear patterns. It's about time for new rubber - that's what brought me to this forum.

What type of tires are you running and do you have one or two sets? I keep original tires for winter and Good Year Eagles for the rest of the year. Last spring I went to my second set of Eagles and am still on my original tires for winter. In winter you do not want wide tires! The smaller foot print gives better traction in snow. Wish I could put a set on like I have on my plow jeep!!! LOL!!! Oh, by the way I have an '03 MO now with right around 62K miles. I'm just about ready to change wheels and tires depending on snow.

First snow I drove in with wide tires I was going around a curve at 20mph and it was just an onion skin snow and the car flew sideways and I hit a curb and broke both left and right... hmmmm.... can't remember what they were called, in the front end and it made a heck of a noise going home! I want t say tie rods but I'm not positive, too long ago. I had the tires and wheels on from day one as some guy that had a tire and wheel shop had them on a couple cars in several dealerships in their showrooms and I asked if they would fit mine and they put them right on day one! They also over charged the heck for them!!!

I know you meant Goodyear Eagle GTII for your 20's, but the original tires are also Goodyear Eagles (LS). ;)

Thank you!!! LOL!!! I haven't looked at the original tires to see what they are in a long time! I just wish I could carry a full size spare Eagle GT II!!! I do have one on an extra alloy wheel! I think I'll have it welded to the back of the car and put the license plate in it and a night light!!! LOL!!!

Thanks!!! Here's my tire mechanic! LOL!!!
