cooper cs-4? - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hey guys

I'm looking for some all season tires for my wife's Murano. The shop I went too recommended the Coopers above anything else. I'm having trouble getting much feedback about them. I'm not looking for a performance tire, more of a all around tire. I'm from Ontario so driving in the snow must be factored. Any feedback would be appreciated on these tires. I realize full snows would be best but I'm hoping to get away with the all seasons if possible.

Thanks

Shortty-

Welcome to the forum.

Check out this link - Motor Trend Review. Apparently Motor Trend did a review of this tire. I am not sure how unbiased it is, because the test itself was sponsored by Cooper. But it's worth a look.

The tire has a UTQG rating of 780 AA and an 80,000 mile warranty!

I have Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus, like them a lot.

What worries me is the UTQG rating of 780 and 80,000 miles of warranty. It is very likely hard tire...

I think I'm gonna try them. Three other vendors talked me out of the Michelins today to try the Coopers. My main concern is winter driving which they all said the Cooper was superiour and the Michelins price was inflated with the name.

Honestly I think it would be hard to have a subjective opinion unless you had the opportunity to drive them all back to back. At this point anything would be an improvement over the worn out GY's.

My tire dealership recommends them too. I'm having them put on tomorrow. I hope they're as good as they say they are.

Took my first road trip with the new cs4 touring tires. Went through snow, sleet and freezing rain with no problems......so far so good.
The steering feels slightly more stiff than it did with the original tires but I guess that means I have more grip on the road.

Just got these put on a few hours ago. I've noticed that these are a lot quieter then the factory goodyears. I don't get to drive this car much, since this is my wife's primary car. I'll update again after we get snow again here.

So far these tires are fantastic. I just returned from a 340 mile trip from Cleveland to Detroit and I could not be happier with the ride quality and performance of these tires for their price. The weather during our trip was a mixture of rain and freezing rain so the CS4s were put through their paces. The tires did not slip and cornering was excellent. Road noise seemed to be slightly less than the Goodyears.

Prior to our trip we had snow (about 1-2 inches) in Cleveland and the tires had excellent traction under these conditions.

So far under all weather conditions I feel like the tires are stuck to the road and my next goal is too see if I can get them to break loose when cornering.

I am sure having all new shocks and struts installed did factor into the quality of the ride. For those who are interested I had KYB GR2 struts installed and even negotiated a buy 3 get one free deal. My MO had a leaking strut at 118,000 mi.

I just replaced my crappy Goodyears with the Cooper CS4's...what a difference. It's obvious that Cooper uses alot more silica in their compound but overall, these tires perform way better than the Goodyears. I would suggest these over Goodyears or the Kumhos anytime.
