I have always felt like the suspension on my murano rode rough over the bumps so when I got to 80,000 miles I figured changing the shocks couldn't be too much of a waste of money even if the old ones weren't too bad. I looked on here and found only a little info so I figured I would add a little for anyone looking to do the same.
I got the shocks - front and rear - from http://www.importrp.com/home.php for about $300 shipped. The two rears are the same and the fronts have a left and a right. To change the rears takes only about 30 mins a side. You remove the rear wheel and undo one bolt that goes through the bottom of the shock 17mm. 12mm socket to undo the two top bolts and just push down on the top and it will compress and slide out. You use two crescent wrenches to undo the old pieces you need to move to the new shock and reassemble it. Very easy and no special tools required.
The ride seems a little better but nothing like wow that was the problem When I get a chance to change the fronts I will add how much work was involved as that involves removing a lot more stuff and compressing the springs to change the strut. Total for the rears is about $100 and about an hour of your time. If you want to do it just do it when you are rotating your tires, as half the work is jacking up the car and removing the wheels. |
