Installation of HomeLink RearView mirror in S - Click HERE for Original Thread
fastNugly
As the topic states...

I have a 2007 S Murano and wanted to know if anyone knows how to install a rearview mirror from an SL/SE model? The one that has the HomeLink and E/W display...

I have the mirror and the wiring that comes with it..

Any info would be appreciated.

Try to search the forum. I think somebody has done it and posted how to do it. I just cannot recall who it was...

fastNugly-

There have been quite a few members who have modded their "S" MOs into pseudo-SL models by adding the mirror, fogs, etc. Check out this link for advice on installing the mirror - Click Here

Good luck.

Thanks for the link. One question and not realaly directed to you but for those who have completed the swap...how many wires did you need to connect? I have the wiring harness that plugs onto the mirror and it has 3 wires, do all have to be connected? 1 for power, 1 for ground and the other?

Thanks guys for your help.

FAstNugly,

I recieved your email, but I figured I answer you here so that everyone can bennefit.

I did connect the three wires. They are:

Constant Power - battery
Switched Power - with ignition
Ground

The wire colors are a little different in the Mo - at least for me. I used a test light to find a constant power under the dash. I think it was green and thick (behind fuse relays). I used a fuse tap and connected the switch power to the radio fuse and the ground to black.

I will try to take a pic this weekend and post. It's raining right now.

biggun,

Thanks. As mentioned in my PM to you, I am pretty sure the connection are not right as the mirror is not working but has been tested and is suppose to work. I do have the Gentex 313 and there are 3 wires.

Wire colours are as follows.

Black/Brown
Black/Yellow
Black

I assume the black/brown is power, black/yellow is switched/ignition and the all black is ground.

Based on the installation instructions you included on another post, the colour scheme does not match what I have. It says that the battery wire is all black. I followed what it said....

I just want to line of my wiring harness colour code to yours to see if it is the same. I have done alot of research and all wiring seems to be different from mine. I will probably need to play around with the 3 wires to see what is what. I think my assumption above is correct.

Your picture would surely help and if you can check you wiring colours behind the plug on the mirror.

Thanks again

I may of had that same dilemma as well. Black is definitely ground, I don;t care what the instructions say.

I think you have the other wires labeled correctly. However, it should still work whether you connect the black/brown or black/yellow to constant power or just power. The only difference is that you will just lose the programmed homelink buttons. when you shut of the car or the mirror will be on constantly.
fastNugly
I thought the exact same way about black being negative. I followed the instructions and now I know I have it connected wrong.

My biggest but smallest hurdle will be which wire is for homelink and which is for dimmer. I assume the Black/Brown is the homelink and is the 'so called' red wire and the Balck/Yellow is the switched/ignition wire for the dimmer.

When ever you get a chance can you check your plug behind your mirror to see what your wire colours are?

The good hting is there are only 3 wires I need to play around with.

Okay, I take back what I said on my last post. I went outside during lunch and took some pics. The black wire appears to be constant and the black/white appears to be ignition. I couldn't see the ground wire since I was parked next to another car and didn't want to ding door. Below are some pics. Not 100% sure, but I think the green/lime wire is constant (which I connected black wire) and green/white is ignition (I connected black/white wire - hard to see in pic). Take a test light to them to confirm like I did. Good Luck.

Wow...thanks. In your picture it looks like you have 2 solid black wires and a black/white wire, is this correct?

Looks like I will have to do a trial and error to get this connected.

My back connection is different from yours.

Black/Brown
Black/Yellow
All Black

I could unplug it to verify, but I believe I had 2 black. One had a ring terminal on it, so it was easy to identify it as ground. The black power wire may have had a ridge/rib on it to distinguish between the two.

According to my Service Manual (page GW-73), the Black/Yellow wire connects to battery and Black to Ground. Based on this, I would have to guess that your Black/brown is ignition.
fastNugly
What manual are you looking at and can you send that to me or do you have a link to look at it? Those are the coloured wires I have. The only problem is I didnt get the full length with ring terminals etc. I got my mirror directly from a Murano and the wires were cut.

I assume my black is ground as it is different from the other to wires in that the other 2 black has brown and the other has yellow.
fastNugly
BIGGUN....Thank you.

I was able to correct it and fix it. I only switched around the ground and wire that connects the auto dimming feature and it worked like a charm.

Programmed the homelink in 1 minute and everything is all good now.

Thanks again.
