| Ok I am sorry if this was posted somewhere else. I am wondering if anyone has installed after market seat heaters in cloth seats? I am looking at possibly trying to get some heaters for the front and rear seats. Let me know if you have any advice. Thanks in advance. |

caliafeds-
I don't ever recall a member installing seat heaters in a non-leather interior. However, that does not mean that it can't be done.
Check out this link: FactoryHeaterSeat.com It is for a website that sells seat heaters. They claim it is done all the time.
If you decide to go ahead with the install, let us know how it goes.
Good luck.

I just install a set of seat heater in my wife's Toyota FJ and it is wonderful; except the units I received were riddled with connector problems. Bought is here: http://www.heatedseatkits.com/heatedseatkits/index.html
I'm assuming that during manufacturing; some of the connectors were not "crimped" properly. I re-crimped them all and it works wonderfully.
If you call them up; the customer service rep will ask you what model vehicle you have to see if their system is compatable.
I recall that the seating for the MO was not under their "compatable" seats list(I could be wrong). It has something to do with the "seam" that runs down the middle of the seating surface. The FJ's seam ran accross from one side to the other.
1)-To install the heater; you have to first remove the entire seat(with or without rails).
2)-Undo any fabric ties(with the FJ; it was with wires and steel ties) and basically uncover the seating surfaces(bottom and back).
3)-Install the carbon heaters(they can be cut in certain areas to fit)
4)-Reinstall seats; connect the wiring harness; drill and install switch
5)-Hook up power lines to an Accessory fused point in the fuse box
All in all; it took me about 3 hours to do both seats in the FJ.
I will try to find the link for that FJ installation and follow up with the post.
Here is the link for the Toyota FJ's Forum with photo to heated seat install.

| I think the reason some aren't compatible is because of some type of sensor in the seat cushion, it might be for the airbag. Depending on weight in the seat, the explosive charge can be tailored. The first set of leather seats I looked at installing were not compatible with a seat sensor and the stiching was not compatible with the airbags. |
