Am I really stuck with the Factory Radio (07 S) - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi
Crutchfield has told me that there is no way to replace the factory head unit of my 07 Murano S (with out Bose) because the radio has something to do with the HVAC system.

Does anyone know if this is true.

I really do not care about the unit because all I need is the PAC AUX unit for my Sirius.

Thanks,
Ralph from Jersey

Hi Ralph from Jersey; welcome!
It is true that the HU is installed "behind" an electrical circuit board that all the control knobs are located on. Behind that entire face is a printed circuit board and all the buttons and dials are electrically connected to that board. That means that you can't just make a cutout to install an aftermarket HU.
There are a few that have completely gutted that central control area and have spent time and money in modifying their sound system.
It is easy to access the HU by removing the 2-vent panel above the control area; the 2 lower side covers of the control area. There are posts throughout this site regarding access.
I know that there are PAC units available for "Bose" units but I'm not too sure if there is one for Non-Bose systems.
Maybe others can post their experience on this matter......

You can always add the ipod interface, other than that, its heavy customizing. I just got my 07 and I'm disappointed at how difficult it is to mod anything on it.

I was just browsing the gallery and presto! Here is the look at the circuit board on the back of the control panel.
Photo was copied(with Thanks:D ) from our gallery area.

Heres what I did.

My Stereo

The head unit is factory but its actually power by Alpine Imprint which sound hella good if you ask me.

My nav is getting delivered today which will work on factory monitor. Check back for install updates on that in the next couple weeks.

Thanks for all the replies.

If all of the HU stuff is behind the radio, will it be really complex to install the PAC auxilary adaptor? I had one in my chevy and it was pretty simple, I needed to slice tap into the power wire going to the radio and un plug the adaptor into the radio. Will i have a hell of a time getting to the back of this radio?

Thanks,
Ralph

I've taped(metal duct tape) my PAC unit to the rear of my HU as you can see. There's plenty of room back there.
Getting to the back is actually really easy. The removal schematics photo has been posted before.

Have a look into "my Gallery" for the image of the area that needs to be removed to access the HU. Cheers, John.
