Tire help PLEASE! - Click HERE for Original Thread

Hi,
I need to get new tires put on my 2004 murano sl awd. I am looking for a really good all season tire (one that is really good in snow/ice). I was thinking of getting a snow tire but living on cape cod, we usually do not get enough to justify paying for them.
I was interested in the gy fontera but I do not see them in my size(235,18,65). they have it 235,17,65. Which do u all feel is the best all season for the murano awd sl for that tire size (235,18,65)? Thanks and Happy Holidays!!

ok, 25 views and no replies....how about this? Would u recommend Blizzaks or just going for Yoko's Avid h4s's? I know there is ton of info on tires here but I do not have the time (work and the fact the wife wants to buy these today or tomorrow). I'm checking tirerack.com for prices and they seem to be the best. So, I am debating blizzaks, ct, or yokos. What do u recommend? thank you!!

1. I cannot make any recommendations as I am not, and have not used winter tires. In our parts of the woods it is simply not required! :D

2. Do some search. Our friends from North of the border did post some reviews of the winter and not only winter tires. Also, members from snow-belts have supplied a lots of information...

thanks Kris. I will try to do some more research. I was just hoping that i'd get some opinions regarding the 3 tire choices i laid out. Thanks,

I use the TOYO's Open Country G-02 Plus in OEM size for winter driving. Snow is one thing but colder temprature and icy road conditions are the reason why I would highly recommend ANY snow tires over any "BEST" all seasons tires any day.
Here is the link for Toyo's tire http://www.toyocanada.com/products/Prod_WinterLT_EN.asp
Blizzaks are very good too; Pirellis also makes a snow tire in OEM sizing.
You'll feel very confident with any snows and will be able to brake better than the guy in front of you. Just watch out for the car behind:4:

Welcome to the forum.

Sorry, but I am a New York Giants fan so I have this reluctance to offer assistance to anyone who lives in the vicinity of the New England Patriots. When the season is over I can help you. ;)

I have Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus up here in Central Maine. 255/55/18 work really well.

I got the Michelin Cross Terrains last year and they easily got me thru the snow and ice last winter. Our worst snow was 13 inches (gallery
) and they got me around with no trouble. I liked the CT's much better than the Goodyear's.

How did your MO do with the Goodyears during the past several winters? They are a good all-around tire, and a new set will have appreciably more traction as compared to what they are replacing.

I live in MA, and replaced my Goodyears with Michelin Crossterrains when I was at 65,000 miles (mostly highway driving). The Michelins worked great in the snow and cold, though so did the Goodyears.

Do a search on tirerack.com for that size and you'll come up with many options, all-season and also snow.

I switched from the GY to the Michelin Cross Terrains last winter. Much better in both rain and snow than the GY IMHO.

But they are not snow tires so if you do heavy snow driving you may want to get real snow tires.

thanks for all your opinions and answers! It is much appreciated (even from the Giants fan ;) but the Pats RULE! :) I checked tirerack.com and when i type in my MO, i don;t get the ct's listed. But I do when i type in the tire size. Strange?
We don't get much snow here usually but I do need to drive to Quebec to see the inlaws (i'm the one guy back in the day who said he had a canadian gf and actaully did..lol) and up to VT/ME ski resorts.

Thanks for all your help! I'm leaning towards the ct's!

i also forgot to mention, i really did not feel the Goodies were that great in the snow, especially the heavy wet slush but then again, they don't like to put salt on the roads here....sand....instead.
